Mabie Todd Swallow? - Pen And Pencil Set

I’m having a hard time finding information on a pen and pencil set I picked up awhile ago. I’m hoping that someone will be able to identify them.

The fountain pen is green marbled and has a Mabie Todd nib. The body and cap have a decagon profile. The decorative cap band is gold-plated. The end of the barrel is marked Pat. 4.26.32 86826. There are no other markings on the pen or clip.

The set also has a matching green marbled pencil. Same shape as the pen and no markings.

They came in a Mabie Todd Swallow Gift Set box. Inside the box, someone penciled in December 25, 1933.

I found patent 86,826 online which, except for the clip, matches the pen. I haven’t been able to find other matching examples though, so I’m not sure if it is a Swallow or just ended up in a Swallow box.

Thanks for your help!

Here is the information from David L. Moak "Mabie in America" 3rd Edition Bottom pg 175 and top of 176. Page 178, not shown, shows the patent you looked up as well as a similar picture to yours of the end of a pen with the patent number and date 4.26.32

This was the very end of the company in the US... The chronological text about the US company ends on page 177.

Fabulous pen and pencil set, smackyf, and impressive detective work, Greenie.

Thanks to both of you for the pictures and the investigative work, I enjoyed them.

David.

Thanks for the research Greenie, that's fantastic! I had hoped to find something out about them but never expected such a definitive answer. Interesting history to boot.

Thanks everyone for your comments and help.

Came across this old thread, and remembered I had a pen that was reminiscent of this interesting Mabie Todd.

It is also 10-sided, but has the imprint "ANC Paragon" on the clip. No other imprints on the pen. It came with a Moore nib, in a section that was far too small for the barrel. I removed the section and nib, so it's barrel and cap only, at this point.

I've been able to find no information on this pen. Has anyone seen this before?

Sorry about the awful image quality above. The JPG versions are actually all of very good quality. FPN seems to be reducing the image size from 268 KB to a 32-KB thumbnail for some reason.

Not sure what's going on.

Suggestions?

An interesting looking pen, from the links. I cannot confirm whether it is from a MT Swallow base model, there were various UK manufacturers that made 10 - 12 faceted pens (Mentmore & Lang certainly did).  If I had not seen the earlier thread I would have suggested yours came from a US manufacturer.
