I also hope to get better with typing on my phone keyboard. Sorry about the typos.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Dear amberleadavis,

Thanks for your handwritten reply. It is a wonderful ink that you are using, I do not know if it is turquoise, but I am really quite fond of turquoise ink myself.

It is so great you have so many ink shades, I already know by now that you quite like inks and drawing with them. I adore your idea to name your ink cabinet with your huge ink collection a POTION cabinet.. Visiting you site, it is as if one is visiting an art gallery site. (for the uninformed, see relevant link http://http://sheismylawyer.com/She_Thinks_In_Ink/index.html )

Like yourself, I seem to like stub nibs a lot, I find them most preferable for everyday use. Their advantage is they add flair in the handwriting without all the high-maintenance of a flex nib. Plus with the stub nibs you can show off better the different shades and saturation of an ink, compared with the EF, F and M nibs. Funny how I started my fountain hobby wanting to narrow the width of my fountain pens to EEF or EF width, only to find myself liking stub nibs nowadays. My other EDC pen is a black Jinhao 159 with a hand ground stub nib ( I usually like narrower stub nibs, not so the 1.1 mm stubs, my stub is ground closer to a 0.6-0.7mm width).

I also posted this reply in the ''366 + Inks - 2016 - An Ink A Day - Or 30+ Inks Per Month - Part 2 '' https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/310873-366-inks-2016-an-ink-a-day-or-30-inks-per-month-part-2/page-11 thread, which is such a colorful topic indeed! I was hoping to thus better get your attention, since the mod Kaigelu 316 thread so much lacks color; my only consolation it that my Kaigelu 316 is full of amber and brown swirls, you never get bored by it.

Best Regards,

Photios

Dear AmberLea,

Thanks for your reply. To be honest, sometimes I find more joy working on my pens than writing with them. This may sound peculiar for you that you are able to do such wonderful things with your inks and pens, but it is true for me as, by preference, hobby or by profession, I like to work with my hands.

I am not a nibmeister, but one thing I have learned through my limited experience with nibmeisters is that you PREFERABLY have to be there, next to them, when they are tuning your pen, so you can instantly try it out and see if you like it or not.

Last, this may sound stupid, but one thing I do not understand is what are CRVs, that is except from Honda's that I know of :) ?

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Photios

Did your Sheaffer Legacy suffer a "boo boo?' THAT looks suspiciously like a band aid on a sterling Silver pen? If it is NOT an injury & something that improves performance, please share; I have a bunch of pens that could probably benefit & MANY styles of "fun"band aids.

AND that INK of LOVE is very nice; I have never seen it "in use" before.

No, thankfully, my Legacy is boo boo free. I'm trying to use 366 inks this year (roughly an ink a day). I'm running a little behind. All of my pens have little bands around them to identify which ink is in which pen. I haven't added the bands to the two most recent fills.

I am delighted to know your Legacy is enjoying "Good Health." (Which reminds me of a friend's Father, one of my favorite "older friends, " who commented upon hearing about an acquaintance's MOST recent health complaint, " Oh dear, I surely hope it is nothing, TRIVIAL!" I am sure he smiled when commenting, I know my Mother WOULD have!

AND, I am delighted you chose your identification method, instead of offering the "Myriad joys & capability of an EXCEL Spreadsheet," as so many friends of mine INSIST would "EMPOWER & change my LIFE;" I chose FPN instead, & "never thought about any EXCEL "anything," again!

Even though I recently met amberlea in this forum and know her little, she seems to use her pens in such a colorful way, more so for painting with them than writing.

IMHO, although she excels painting with inks, perhaps Paintbrush :) would be more appropriate software for her than Excel, but since she has found her own way, I would be the last person to judge...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
