Dear FPN Friends

I have published various topics on the BOMBPROOF De Atramentis Document inks.

http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/document_ink_2_zpst5tfsfyf.jpg

These inks are lightfast permanent and because of the CMYK set als very popular with artists and painters around the world like Jane Blundell, Liz Steel and The Urban Sketschers

The above picture is not complete since also a permanent Violet and a Fog Grey ink are availale now.

With the CMYK Colours every colour (check photos at the bottom of this topic you like can be mixed which maks these inks popular for artists.

To expand the possibilities De Atramentis now brought a PERMANENT WHITE INK on the market.... Now you mix PASTEL COLOURS too :happyberet:

next to the white bottle are the original Docu Blue and Docu black The outer Bottles where the result of mixing

Quick & Dirty Tests

Since I a not an expert on colour mixing like Jane Blundell or Liz Steel. I could only perform some Quick & Dirty Mixes. I will ask DR J to send these Grand Ladies of Art :happyberet: A bottle for testing and hopefully they will soon publish some Colourcharts (see photos at the bottom of this review) and Artworks :D

Thank you for the review but after trying Document inks I must confess I strongly dislike them and adding white to the line-up won't change it.

Why is that?

I know that they are not the best shaders some do some don't

No sheem but thats no shame painters do not fancy this

But they are ultrasmooth drying in under 5 sec (hello lefties)

No feathering when used as meant for in FOUNTAIN pens

I love them and trust them in my pen IG i dont

Will the white ink write on dark papers or allow mixes to write on dark papers as some gel inks do?

Hello stonezebra,

Sorry a bit late.

I have not tested thtat yet. although I believe it is more of a mixing ink I will try so next week and le you know.

On the website Kalliegrafie-laden.de (also run by D-A) there is a interference tinte blau

This writes on black papers white wiht a shing blue sheen... Unfortunately it is not for foutain pens...

But very nice in a dip or glass pen....

Will keep you informed

Fog Grey (non-permanent) and Document Grey (permanent) are available as two different DeA inks.

Happy Ink Year!

I see some testing in our future!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Is this ink comparable to Noodler's Wotw? That's the only ink similar to the point of this ink that I can think of. Your bottle of DeA ink even shows the same type of bubbles that appear on my Wotw bottle if I shake it at all.

The samples I have had feathered and bled through Rhodia paper which I have never seen before apart from Baystate Blue. I do like the idea of the white though, and if the behavior is better, I could certainly see myself picking up a bottle.

Abner C. Kemp, in my review mentioned a post above yours, towards the end I have samples of feathering, if it might be of interest to you. Not on Rhodia, though.

too bad to hear so ...

Quite peculiar since I have tested about 10 inks on several papers including rhodia, Clairefontaine G Lalo as weel as cheap paper.

No feathering what so all.

During my Holiday visited Dr J for the first time and discussed this. Since Visvamitra also wrote this..

D-A Inks are designe d for the writng tool used. We tested several Fountain Pens on everal papers... No poblem at all (except the Moleskine)

But then we used dip pens which are scratchy and ver wet glass pens.... Strong feathering....

D-A also produes inks for these writng tools which do no feather nor bleed..

But the FP inks are very wet for smooth writng and might feather whe not used in FP'S or used in very wet FP's

D-A White How about a sample???

I have been working and traveling more than ever in 2015 :-)

But I kept DA Document Brown with me and used it whenever I could, to test it in details. I guess you have seen my conclusions.

It was a pleasure and I continue to use it. I still have plenty of Brown left, and when it is done, I will gladly buy some more out of my own pocket, I learned to appreciate it and trust it.

Happy New Year to you, Dr Jansen and the whole DA team!

Very nice review indeed! I look forward to seeing this come out and to get some to try with some of my inks. I love pastels.

If no one else is interested, I would love to have one of your samples - your choice as to which you would like to part with, should I win.

Thank you again for your great review!

Thanks for the info. I believe when I tested the inks I was using some of my wetter pens. Perhaps in a slightly drier nib I would see less bleed through. There is also the chance that perhaps I got a bad sample, this has happened a few times in the past. I'll definitely be looking for a sample of D-A White. It looks like an ideal ink for mixing.

I'll throw my name in the hat for the baby blue vial. :)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
