Definitely need to give at least one of these a try. I love my R&K Alt-Goldgrün. Have you tried mixing colors? I love a blue-black m'self and since they don't offer one directly, I'd hope to be able to make one.

R & K has made a cleaning fluid specifically for dokumentus. 50ml with erka-rapid ink tank on board.

The cleaning liquid 5 minutes into the fountain pen, then rinse well with water.

I had not known about the cleaner before today. Is there something special about the cleaner that you can't get with other methods, or something that makes the ink harder to flush with normal methods (or both)?

I haven't tried the Brown, but I have Hellblau in a pen at the moment and other than some spread and a tiny bit of bleedthrough (and a bit of nib creep -- but not to the point of clogging the slit) it seems very well behaved -- starts right up with good flow. It's in a Parker Vector which is one of the wetter writers i have (although not the firehose of the one I bought first).

Water resistant Fountain Pen inks are a little bit tricky, because waterresistance and watersolubility are difficult to reconcile.
Anyway, it is important to rinse the cleaner thoroughly with water, otherwise the ink flow is increased.

I put R&K dokumentus braun into my TWSBI Vac Mini (both new, so it was a first use of both).

When the ink ran out after a few days, I cleaned the pen out and noticed that all sorts of gunk coming out - little chunks. It was very weird. At first, I thought a bit of the feed had somehow fallen off, but there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the pen: my only explanation is that it is chunks from the ink. A sample of one, admittedly.

So perhaps the special cleaning fluid breaks up the ink?

That is a problem of all these nanoinks, also e.g. Montblanc permanent. Transferred to other vessels had already people in a short time "ink Pudding". This is probably an interaction with something. The speculations are e.g. ink residue or water (maybe tap water). But honestly, I don't know.

Interesting color, that's all I would say.

 

Although, considering they're archival inks, certified at that, one wouldn't go wrong with picking a more traditional dark blue or just black.

I have all of the new dokumentus inks, and recently inked up my F/C 65 with a stub nib..with the green....

 

Hard start everytime....if left for several hours (as in overnight) it was a really hard start...

 

I have the black in a Lamy safari with a fine nib - and no problems...starts first time every time...even after being left overnight.

I like the black alot...

 

The Green just may not match well with the F/C 65 and the Stub nib...will try the green in another pen soon.

 

I find R & K inks to be a very good value....

I bring now even the cleaner to the people, let's see how the tests are.

Its nice to see permanent inks in many colors. How do they behave on cheap absorbant papers in the real world?

That's depending on the manufacturer. DeAtramentis document ink can fray a bit. If you like to write with penholder pointed nibs, e.g. Copperplate, is only the Montblanc permanent usable.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
