Great review! I was thinking about buying one of these for awhile but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Seems worth it to me!

Thank you ...

At 25 Euros... you cant go wrong with this pen...

However one thing i want to highlight for 1.1 Calligraphy nib they have used different feed with high ink flow... as compared with feed used for fine.medium or broad nib...

I've got two Ecos - a black with B nib, and a white with M. Very simple pens, easy to disassemble and reassemble, wonderful to write with, and a very impressive ink capacity. What more could you ask for?

Hi all,

 

I'm a fellow Eco lover. I've had a white stub for a few weeks now and love it. I'm tempted to get another, but also contemplating getting one in B for variation. I have the stub inked with Emerald of Chivor and it's fantastic. I love writing with the combination. If I get another, I would probably ink it up with Rouge Hematite, so I'm looking for a bolder line. Vaibhav's post above is the second time I've seen reference to the feed of the TWSBI Eco stub being different from the other grinds. Has this been confirmed? If so, that probably sways me to going with another stub.

Reps from TWSBI have made the statement on more than one occasion and in more than one place that they use different feeds for their stub nibbed pens than they do for their standard nibbed pens. I have only used their pens with stubs, so I do not have a non-stub feed to do a comparison to, but I would assume that the reps are giving us accurate information.

This was confirmed by twsbi guys that they use different feed for stub... I can't seem to get hold of that conversation or post.. Will repost as soon as I get hold of that

Just one more update... Infact the feeder on ef and f is also different compared to m or b... And then 1.1 had its own...

Good to know. I wonder how significant the differences between these feeds are.

The 580 has always had major problems with cracking. Has anyone had any cracking issues with the Eco?

Franklin-Christoph, Italix, and Pilot pens are the best!
Iroshizuku, Diamine, and Waterman inks are my favorites!

Apica, Rhodia, and Clairefontaine make great paper!

I've had mine for a few months with no issues. The poll from this thread: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/294381-please-vote-has-your-twsbi-cracked/ seems to confirm that the Eco is less prone to breakage with very few people having any reported issues. Everything that I have read indicates that the different design and materials used to manufacture the Eco result in it being much more stable and much less likely to have any issues with breaking or spontaneous cracking.

Nice pen. I read reviews of this pen from other users and there seems to be a problem with the feed keeping up with the ink flow especially on broad and stub nibs. Did you experience reduction in ink flow after writing a page or two? I have a eco too, but in fine nib. Mine is fine (as in no problem) with ink flow. I am also contemplating getting another one in stub.

this feed has not given me any problem... if you see my review also... it wrote complete 3 pages without even a hint of dryness...

sometimes it also boils down to ink... ink I use is either Sailor or Iroshizuku.... and they flow very well...

My experience with the stub nib has been similar - very generous flow, one of the wettest pens I have.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
