Looks like the topic got resurrected.

 

At Xmas someone gave me the Goulet cleaning/tuning kit which also came with that rubber ear bulb thing... which works pretty good, though, I can get more force if needed with the syringe I use, plus I can suck in more easily as well.

 

Both seem fine for what I need anyways. But glad some people found the idea useful.

Is it possible to damage a pen if I apply too much pressure? assuming I am not going to sldege hammer the syringe... Say tge same amount of pressure in a handshake.

I don't go too aggressive with it myself... but had once or twice where it needed a bit of extra 'oomf' to get it going.

 

Luckily, cheap pens in those cases, like $5 eBay cheap.

An option that most pen mechanics use is a desoldering bulb. I suppose that the Teflon tip might work (you might have to drill it to the size to fit over a piercing tube), but we usually toss the tip and fit the bulb over the section threads, or sac nipple.    About  $10 on ebay or at Parts-Express.   I use them for years before replacing.

I use an empty squirty honey bottle filled with water, fit the section in the silicone hole holding on to it and squirt away 🙂
