Kobe (神戸市 Kōbe-shi) is the sixth-largest city in Japan and is the capital city of Hyōgo Prefecture. It is located on the southern side of the main island of Honshū, on the north shore of Osaka Bayand about 30 km (19 mi) west of Osaka. With a population around 1.5 million, the city is part of the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe metropolitan area along with Osaka and Kyoto. Its name comes from "kanbe" (神戸), an archaic title for supporters of the city's Ikuta Shrine. Kobe became one of Japan's 17 designated cities in 1956.

Kobe is famous for its shirines and nioce architecture but among fountain pen and ink afficionados the name Kobe cause increased heart-rate. The city is a home of Nagasawa-Kobe stationery shop that offers incredible lione of more than fifty inks made by Sailor.

My master - plan is to prepare comparison of full line of Nagasawa-Kobe inks. Not an easy task as they're not the most obtainable inks on the market, but hopefully I'll manage to do it :)

At the moment Nagasawa-Kobe offers 52 inks:

Minatogawa Lime is very cool ink. I like everything about it.

It's green. It's Sailor. End of.

Well, just to add that it's more splendid in real life than even visvamitra can show it, and that it's an excellent colour for marginal notes. I've been using it at work for three months solid.

Leafy.

Quite nice.

Prior to these reviews, I had purposely over looked most of the greens Kobe offered. I see, now, that it was a mistake and am quickly amending this blunder.

I've been using this with a BB nib all this week. Mine looks a more citric acid green compared to how it appears on my screen here. This ink is a supreme shader. Lovely.

Wow! This is a very nice green. I'm not sure I would call it a "lime" though. I like it a lot. Thanks!

Brighter? Citric acid is a white powder, like salt, so I'm not sure what color you mean.

Anyone know how this would compare side-by-side to something like Diamine Emerald?

Thanks for the review!

You're quite right :-) I didn't notice that the spell-checker had done that. It should have read "......citrus, acid-green........".

Thanks for pointing that out.

Not what I had in mind after reading the name but a really interesting colour nonetheless. Great review. Thanks!

Oooh, this is gorgeous! I will definitely have to pick up a bottle of this if it ever appears.

I also wanted to add my thanks for your great reviews, especially this set-- I have been trying to pick a few Kobe inks to put on my list, and these are so much more helpful than the little squiggles I'd been able to find. Well, maybe my wallet won't thank you, as I've already added two colors (no. 2 and this one) I hadn't previously considered. But maybe I'll get lucky and once I see your reviews of the two I thought I'd like (18 and 25) I'll decide they aren't for me after all. :)

This is my favourite ink. It';s absolutely beautiful. I've just had to order another bottle. I can't find anywhere in Europe selling it.....

It seems quite popular and can be hard to get sometimes. I used this on holiday; seemed fitting. One of my favourite Kobe inks.

lovely green ink in that horrendous sailor ink bottle at a premium price...

Selling a boatload of restored, fairly rare, vintage Japanese gold nib pens, click here to see (more added as I finish restoring them)

I on the contrary think that the price is very reasonable. If one orders from Nagasawa on Rakuten 3 bottles, it costs about 60$ registered shipping included and delivery is within 5-7 days maximum. Also first class kindness and service.

One more thing: A 50ml bottle equals to writing on 1000 A5 pages with a medium nib.

Yes it might be my favourite green too.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
