Vert Olive (and Sailor Cigar) with Zebra "G" nib on Original Crown Mill Pure Cotton paper

This one has it all. Beautiful, in the sweet spot for wetness, great behavior on all paper, and it dips and draws well. The only drawback to Vert Olive is that you must use it in a broad/wet pen for legibility. My Lamy 2000, which is a 5/10 for wetness and has a custom polished M nib, doesn't make the cut for legibility.

Holy smokes, look at that "Vert Olive" in the title. My heart races.

Olive drawing is kinda crappy, not due to a flaw in the ink, but because I pushed the limit on the number of washes the OCM Pure Cotton paper can handle. Sailor Cigar was used only for the very darkest of shadows.

Care was taken to ensure color accuracy, etc.

I just bought a bottle, which I did not think I would before writing this review. Glad you like it.

Beautiful ink & homage to same! The last example utilising flexy writing with small addition of "Cigar" should convince ANYONE. I was already sold but I thank you for showing off this beautiful ink in your usual glorious style.

Tricked throughout the centuries...

For centuries people had been tricked by kings & "religion-alism"

In the 20th century people got tricked by communism

Today people get tricked by (neo)capitalism :)

I love this shade and keep a bottle to 'incentivize' my calligraphy practice. You're right in that it shines best with an incisive broad flexy pen but it's so worth it for the depth of shading. Thanks for the review :)

Vert Olive is actually one of my favourite colours. It's actually the first colour of fountain pen ink (beside blue and black) that I bought. Although I've found that it can show some feathering and bleed-through on some not-so-expensive papers.

If you have time, I'd LOVE it if you posted a sample of your dipped Vert Olive in this thread.

Do you add gum arabic in it for dip pens? I find it too watery for dip pen nibs.

I was amazed to find that this is one Herbin that dipped well straight out of the bottle. Of course, that Pure Cotton paper helps. In use, I will probably have a small bottle with gum arabic mixed in to make it perfect. But it's really very good on its own.
