I present to test the ink Sheaffer Skrip Red with a beautiful, highly saturated red color. Ink writing very perfectly. Swimmingly nib flows on paper. Good drying, no bleed through even worse photocopying paper. So far underestimated inks Sheaffer, from today it will change, I guarantee. Highly recommended!

My favorite red. I originally bought a bottle to make Binder Burgundy and ended up using the red more. I love it when these inexpensive non-premium inks turn out to be so good.

Don't forget you can mix Skrip red with Waterman's purple to get Richard Binder's Burgundy ink

This is my standard red ink.

And with Christmas coming up, it is a great match to use with a nice green ink.

Thanks for a good review...

Bought this ink a while back and was absolutely delighted. Use it my "29" Red Ripple Wahl Eversharp with a "not quite" wet noodle nib and love to send off message written in this ink. Most people are really surprised when they see the manufacturer and color. Just think, a very nice ink, from a good manufacturer that can be bought for a very reasonable price.

At the moment I am on pen & stuff spending diet (lead me not into temptation) so I will have to hold off on all new purchases!

It's not like I am limited to 20 or 30 inks... LOL

This is the best pure red, IMO. When I want a red that is not not orangey or purpley, Sheaffer Red is always where I go. It is well behaved as well.

I believe I have about 8 oz of the stuff.

Don't feel bad. I'm old; I'm meh about most things.

I've used Sheaffer Skrip Red and Montblanc Irish Green on my cards for the last four or five Christmases. Sheaffer Skrip Red is Christmas red, no doubt about it.

I love the smell of fountain pen ink in the morning.

Yes, I have found that uploading pictures into FPN looses both the original color and sharpness, which is quite frustrating considering what we are looking at and why.

Try Diamine Ultra Green or Noodler's Gruene Cactus.

Diamine Ultra Green and Sheaffer Skrip Red are my inks for Christmas cards.

Definitely my favorite red ink...a true red. I always have a backup bottle of Skrip Red on hand. Thanks for an awesome review, Akszugor.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
