Asa Nauka Group Buy

Mr Subramaniam, I will PM to you about this pen. I want it:

- shiny polished black ebonite (not any of the rods shown), offered in your website

- no clip

- section ready for my own JoWo #6 unit (with BLACK 1.1 stub), but no nib fitted from factory

Therefore, how much would it cost the pen if I provide myself the nib unit? And I have not found a payment option for my specifications, so please help me to pay!

Thank you,

plumista

PS: Please note that I am still waiting for any update about the Maven ordered weeks ago.

The pen model's name NAUKA means BOAT in Bengali language of Eastern India and not in Hindi , the language of Northern India.

In Hindi it is called NAO. In colloquial Bengali also a boat is called NAO.

I find a good number of FPN members have committed to buy the pen. I am certain they will all like the pen and enjoy writing with this pen. ASA pens are very good. I will also buy a Nauka, but directly (since being a regular customer in India I will get good discount).

Cheers to all.

Probably should have asked before ordering, but still curious, is the Jowo nib done as a screw-in nib or friction fit?

Actually, I kinda have the same question. I'm thinking it is a screw-in unit, but I don't know for certain.

This is actually looking to be a nicer group buy than the annual Edison group buy.

I am glad that people are jazzed. The Indian manufacturers do marvelous the things and Subranamian has many excellent pens. I was using a Popsicle all week and it's terrific. I modify my own nibs, which is one reason I buy so many Indian pens.

Perfect, easy to change the nib if needed/desired.

 Really looking forward to a first on many fronts: Indian pen, eyedropper possibility, ebonite...

If people ar looking for something new, try the matte black ebonite. It's a great finish.

If people wish to order the matte black finish they'll order it anyway. If ASA is running out of shiny black it might be an idea to let people know.

Both finishes are made from the same material.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
