The only difference is that the demi's own cap sits on the pen a bit deeper while the 21 Super cap does not sit on the pen that deep. Otherwise it fits perfectly well.

Will a Paker 51 nib fit in a Super 21? I have a spare 14k P51 nib and was thinking of putting it in a super P21.

Yes. I have two 21 Supers with P51 gold nibs.

Like FarmBoy, I couldn't fit the Demi cap on the Super 21 barrel with the examples I possess. I live and learn. It is interesting to have my horizons broadened from time to time.

pajaro, the demi's hood also fits 21 Super. If you have a demi's hood and barrel on a 21 Super, you have effectively a demi 51 pen.

My advice :

Get the 51 demi's body (both barrel and hood) for your 21 Super and get away with the cheapness of the 21 plastic. Needless to say the demi's cap (as well as 21 Super's) would perfectly fit on a 21 Super with demi's body.

No.

Who in their mind wants the cheapness of the 21 plastic?

You as a newbie smartie might want it, but I have collected these pens for over 40 years, and I am not ruining any demis bi contaminating them with cheap junk. Just because you can do something does not mean mean that you should. Why not really carp it up by inserting real carpola llike 45 parts?

pajaro, I didn't say anything that could have meant contaminating demis by putting on them the junk (as you said) Super 21's bodies. What I said was the other way round. Please read my post and try to understand. And, it doesn't suit you to use such insulting language for others even if they are 'newbies'.

For the record, the parts in question on a Demi 51 and a Super 21 are NOT the same. Parker had different part numbers for them, they are made from different (but similar) materials and are different dimensions.

Pajaro and I seem to be in the minority here but the facts are the parts are different and a seasoned collector will immediately spot something wrong.

Yes. But I hear seasoned collectors brazenly announcing, here, they are using even non Parker parts (barrels, brass plungers etc.) on their Parker (51) pens. Is that not a real contamination?

The discussion here was simply as to whether or not the parts from the two models were interchangeble.

Use Kullock and other non Parker parts on 51s and it is OK. Use Parker parts from one model on another and it is contamination. Is that the argument?

In my opinion the parts are not interchangeable.

I respect your opinion.

But my personal experience is that these are, at least partially, interchangable.

I think putting the cheaper plastic of the Super 21 on a 51 Demi in lieu of the 51 Lucite is contamination.

I find this seriously offensive. Now maybe that's clear.

The 51 parts made by Torelli, Prater and others are enhancements by craftsmen. Substituting 21 parts is making a frankenpen. It's not a tour de force.

Thanks so much. So the barrel I have is a regular size demi that's why it doesn't fit right. Any ideas as to where I could get a Parker 21 super barrel in forest green? I've checked eBay...

Try Ernesto at parker51.com or Bruce at pentooling.com

You never know.

What about upgradation / enhancement of S21s by putting on them the bodies of demi 51s?

The two parts in play here are not the same physical shape. Does that matter?

OK. That may be quite a problem. So, I would show you the shape of a Super 21 wearing the body of a 51 demi. And, let us, then, decide as to whether the physical shape is enhanced or has it turned to ugly.

I will trade you all the Super 21 caps, hoods, and barrels you desire for the 51 Demi parts that are the same in function

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
