Thanks for the review. Still trying to make up my mind as to whether or not I like the underlying color, which is starting to remind me of KWZI IG Turquoise after it oxidizes....

Guess I'm going to have to just knuckle under and get a sample (I was hoping someone would have a written exemplar at the Commonwealth Pen Show, but that was sadly not to be -- the woman at the Bob Slate Stationers table said they *just* got their shipment in Thursday of last week, and they hadn't even gotten the shrink wrap off the bottle they had on the table).

I'll probs try a sample, too, at some point when I have to order something else. But right now I don't need anything else. I am trying to keep things to "needs" and not "wants."

I agree, MusicMan sent me a comparison with EOC and Yami Dori, EOC does look like Yama-Dori with sparkles and sheen.

I have a glass dip pen on the way from Goulet (as well as some samples) and I'm so excited about it I can hardly contain myself. I can try any ink with absolutely no concerns about cleaning etc, I don't need a lot of pens and time spent cleaning to write with different colors, and I'm pretty sure it's thinner (which for me is more comfortable to hold). If I can get the hang of it I fully intend to make it a daily writer.

 

SO EXCITED! I think it will lay down enough ink for some really good sheen too. :D

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy.       I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off.
