A lovely Waterman 3V (dark) gray marbled with red bits and a flex nib. So pretty.

That's a very interesting pen! I like the grey and red together.

Dang, the Lamy 2000 OBB arrived and like @OCArt's experience, it has a definite sweet spot but otherwise, it just isn't right.  :(

I feel the same way about mine with a B nib. I’m not trying to start an argument, but other than its looks, I’m surprised the Lamy 2000 gets such love.

Platinum Nice Lavande

Montblanc 145

😅

Will you please share a photo of the Platinum Nice Lavande?  I’d like to see it, inked even. Plus hear what you like about it. I have the Chartres Blue or is it Bleu. I got it used.

Me t with a person I had encountered at a flea market recently. he mentioned that he had some pens that he had accumulated over some years of going to estate sales. He really had no interest in using them and had put them away until I asked if he was interested in showing (and perhaps selling) them to me. After a bit of a delay (three weeks) he finally said yes.

We met today and I ended up buying the whole lot!

Among other things the lot included:

 1 Montblanc 149 FP

2 Montblanc 146 FP

2 Montblanc  (slender) Rollerballs - one a Doue

1 Montblanc Ballpoint (163?)

1 Montblanc (it looks like a 121 but with 14k nib and no markings on the cap

(It looks like the above need to be cleaned and polished - will know more specifics when that is done)

and a bunch of other pens in need of various repairs and restoration.

There are even several dip pens, one of which seems to be made of tiny vertebrae stacked on top of each other to create the elongated stalk.

I think this is what it means to feel "spent". 😀

I had a similar experience with my first Lamy 2k, an OM. Fortunately, the nibs are fairly easy to swap, and I have had very good luck with Lamy's EF nibs.

Google “Nakaya Fountain Pen Dealers”, and one of the first hits should be a list on the Nakaya site of their authoriz(s)ed dealers.

In the Europe, it looks like there are dealers in Belgium, Switzerland, and The Netherlands.

I received an email from Onoto tempting me with the Pi pen at a very reduced price.

Yeah... thought so. Nothing for me to casually walk over and have a peek. That´s why I ordered a Dorsal Fin 2 in April. Now I am waiting. And hoping delivery time will rather be half a year than a year. 🥴

Been a while, almost a year since my last new pen. But bid on and got a Montegrappa Elmo.  I have only one other Montegrappa, and have loved it, so not surprised that I’m loving this too.  They are perhaps my favorite steel nibs I have.

And I ordered this one:

Kuro-Tamenuri was a colour version I was also thinking about. But in the end Aka-Tamenuri got me...

That's a beautiful one. I love red too but will probably get that only after the Midori.

Hello friends,

It's been a while, still busy with my project but wanna share this beauty.

the base pen is Pilot Custom Urushi Fountain Pen - Vermillion (M)

I have been eyeing this artist's work and finally this one catches my eyes.

Debated for a bit but used my still 3 months away big birthday as my excuse!

It is my first modern oversize pen.

Will update when I receive it.  : )))

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
