Sub $400 Pelikan M800 On Amazon

Fritz Schimpf has a 20% off sale on all Pelikans through the end of the year. The price online includes VAT so US (all non-EU?) buyers deduct another 19%. When I registered for an account the VAT automatically disappeared. Shipping is reasonable, IMO. No affiliation, etc.

Not especially astonishing prices but in the US I've bought a few Pelikans from Amazon seller Junipers and they were both delivered in the full box and in perfect condition. They seem to be the only consistent source on Amazon in US for EF nibs too. I've also ordered from missing-pen on eBay and can't beat it.

If anyone is searching for an 800, I am almost certain that there is one for sale in our own classifieds right now. You would have to go back about ten pages, wading through all the modern Italian stuff up for sale; but it is there, for less-than 400, AFAIR...

Do they ship everywhere in the EU? (What about outside & reclaiming the VAT?)

Thanks

Sorry for my late answer , however, I suppose that they dispatch to most EU countries! Checked today on their site, and it appears that they deliver in most EU countries and also in Japan, USA and Australia!

Well, my new M805 blue black silver was sold by Amazon(.de) themselves for 291 € (about 330 $) - of course I am in Germany.

One thing to note, though: a few buyers have complained about the fact that the pen came in a flimsy cardboard box just big enough to hold the pen, no present box, no manual. I don't mind but was still somewhat surprised when that was indeed how my pen arrived.

I feel that I am concerned indirectly, because I bought recently, on Amazon.de, 2 Pelikan fountain pens, the last being a 805, and every time, I complained about the poor light cardboard tube containing the pen, by giving a two stars rating!

By the way, my 805 was black/grey striped, like the Stresemann, but without its name , and at a better price!

Dutch, actually ;-)

On www.appelboompennen.nl in the top left, to the right of the logo, just below the "Home" link, there's a small flag and a currency sign (likely for the Netherlands and Euro when you first come to the site). Click on either of these symbols to switch to Union Jack, Pound or Dollar. Btw., the "burnt orange" is the first item in the main banner slide show.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
