Noodler's Inkmyn Sapphire - Better Than Parker Penman Sapphire

Recommended Posts

So, if you've been watching, we are doing a comparison of blue inks - well, all the inks are compared to Parker Penman Sapphire. Since several of our members are looking for a PPS replacement, I thought I'd add my recipe.

1:1 Noodler's Navajo Turquoise and Noodler's La Couleur Royale.

Check it out below, the bigger letters are PPS.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Thank you! I've had a lot of samples to look through and see what was unique about the ink.

Looks about dead-on to my eyes. You've always made some very nice mixes. How do I make 12% blue balls? :)

My word, that is amazing. Hats off to you, amberleadavis!!!! I am going to do what everyone else is doing, go out and get a bottle of LCR and start mixing like mad. The big (bad) question must be asked: does it sheen? I am NOT going to pout if it doesn't, Noodler's is not noted for their sheen. Very good good thing, there, thanks for all your hard work.

No sheen. Doesn't feather or bleed on cheap paper with a wet pen, but give me time.

Navajo Turquoise is one of my faves for its beautiful shading. I have a bottle and love it.

Is there something you can add to an ink to make it sheen? Just curious.

I think you should try a purple that is a sheener. The trick to the shading seems to be NNT since that shades amazingly well.

NNT? What is that? Oh Wait...Noodler's Navajo Turquoise. Duh, been away from Washington D.C. too long. Someone did say that Le Colour Royale sheened a lot...

I thought if it would sheen, it would seen on TR. But, it was a my first mix and I did it inside the pen. (I was a bad inky).

You have piqued my interest. I am going to have to do this now, which means buying more inks.

Oh, how you play on my obsession... I can see you there, with a smile on your face, like a cat that has just got into the cream.

Well, I was planning on sending you some inks in the mail.

PS

As to the kitty comments, I aver nothing.

OMG Amber! That is terrific!

I just got to Washington for the show. As soon as I saw your post, I added two items for my shopping list. Then I realized.... if Amber said it, the stuff will be long gone by tomorrow when I get to the show.

And to think I remember a lawyer somewhere once telling me she didn't much care for blue ink! :-)

Hmm. I have Navajo Turquoise. I wonder if I have something that will get me the sheen (must look at the purple inks I have.... Unfortunately, I don't recall any of my purple inks being particularly sheeny. I'll have to play around some when I get back from DCSS. And then compare it to the cartridges of PPS that Kestrel sent me a while back....

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Spent the whole afternoon at the show, but I didn't recognize anybody but Richard Binder, because of his hat.

They are using these stupid lanyard name tags that turn the printed side toward the wearer 95% of the time. Might as well have saved the money. With the few you can see, the names are printed so small that you have to lean in to read them. Make yourselves known, folks!

I've seen some really nice pens today, including a beautiful vintage Pelikan and the Namiki Emperor Goldfish, which is so much more beautiful than its photographs.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

It's a plot. No Navajo Turquoise available at the Goulets. All sold out.

a fountain pen is physics in action... Proud member of the SuperPinks

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
