M800/805 2B Nib

I noticed yesterday that PelikanPens (pelikanpens.co.uk) is now selling 2B nibs for the M80* range, in both two-tone and rhodinated finishes. There is a bit of a price premium, but nothing too dramatic.

(For information, as nobody seems to have posted about it yet; no affiliation apart from having bought from them in the past.)

Note to moderators: this is on the cusp of belonging here and in the Marketwatch section. I placed it here because of the specialised nature of the information. Please feel free to move it if that would be more appropriate.

Thanks for the heads up. I'd heard that they'd commissioned a run of these to sell. Now I see it's true.

I bought a rhodinated BB, it arrived the next day by SD.

Pelikan pens are just the bees knees and provide an outstanding level of service.

I'll be back (yet again)

Oh boy, I'm lucky enough to have a BB CI on one of my 800's. Didn't think I'd get a chance to get another these days. Tough choice as the budget is stretched this year.

I have adpated this nib on a 805 clear demonstrator. I find this nib rather stiff especially compared to the M1000 EF nib.

Has anyone got the same experience?

Modern Pelikan nibs are stiff with the exception of the M1000 nibs.

That's a shame !
What is the solution with other brands besides the M1000 ?

What most of us that like the old nibs, we buy M400/600 pens and use them with our vintage nibs.

The other solution on the larger M8xx range is to let the nib do the work with a custom grind or get the nib let the nib thinned to give flex.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
