ARGH!!!

So, some two months ago, I sent two bottles of ink and an old green True-Writer to Levenger's returns department. The green True-Writer was leaking uncontrollably and the inks weren't as good as the Cobalt Blue that they make.

I spoke at length with a customer service rep. They don't repair True-Writers but they agreed to send me a blue one to replace the green and to exchange my two bottles of ink for two bottles of Cobalt Blue.

Weeks passed. I called. They assured me that everything was fine and moving along. Another two weeks passed. I called last Thursday and asked what was going on. They apologized for the delay and assured me again that my pen and ink were coming.

Finally, this morning, after weeks and weeks, a box arrived. With much excitement, I brewed up a pot of coffee and opened it...and found a BLACK True-Writer and no ink.

Now, I know it's silly, but after breaking up with my partner after seven years, realizing that I am in deep financial dookie on my own, spending way too much time alone, sleeping by myself and feeling unwanted and unloved and all that...well, I was really looking forward to this new pen.

I'm not ashamed to say it. I sat there and cried in frustration. Yes, I am a grown, fairly masculine 37 year old man. But I wanted that blue pen today.

I called Levenger. The Customer Service rep I got was very apologetic and assured me that Customer Care would be calling me within the next 24 hours to take care of things. Greeeeeeeeat.

:bonk:

I called my twin brother and he completely sympathized and understood. He got divorced in 2001 and well, except for being wildly heterosexual, he's mostly just like me.

Then he asked if he could buy the black True-Writer off me. I told him that would depend on whatever Customer Care decides. I was ready to box it back up and shoot it out of a cannon in Levenger, Inc's general direction, but if he wants it, he can have it. I just want the blue one.

Thanks for sharing in my woe. Fie, fie upon me.

That's rotten service. I'm sorry you're feeling so down. :( I hope against hope that Levenger's will do right by you and send you the blue True-Writer, and asap! Take care.

Heya David,

it is silly how much we anticipate those packages, huh  Levenger is guilty of taking your retail therapy session away from you !

Seriously, that's a bummer. You go get them. I think they could let you have the black one for your brother if they have a good sense of how to keep customer satisfaction at a reasonable level...

Denis.

I agree with Denis. After such lapses and then a mistaken pen sent, they should not require you to send back the black pen in order to get your blue pen and the ink. So I hope you and your brother both end up with a pen after this fiasco. If they don't do right by you, there are certainly a lot of other dealers that would be glad to have your business--and doubtless would offer better customer service.

Hope you're feeling better! Let us know what happens re: this incident.

Best regards,

Ann

TRex,

Bummer  ! Sorry to hear about your Levenger troubles. I had contemplated buying from them a few times, but didn't. I'm glad. As Ms. Ann said, there are too many dealers out there with excellent CS to put up with that. Hope it works out in your favor.

That's a shame. I've had all good experiences with Levenger CS. But I have heard stories. I understand the frustration you are feeling. When you feel crummy you really need *something* to go right. A "feel good" as hubby calls it.

Sending warm thoughts and hugs. (can a grown, masculine man handle those? :)

Bummer.

Before I retired, I was a Customer Service Manager and all I can say is that that treatment is just plain shoddy.

I've dealt with Levenger in the past and have had good experiences, even dealing with their customer service.

However, every once in a while, Murphy takes over and everything that can go wrong does, and in spades!

Meanwhile, warm thoughts heading your way.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
