It was the postcard that threw me over the edge.

Forgot I sent that. I just bought those a couple weeks ago.

The aesthetic is definitely not as 'refined' as the Diamond series pens - no faceting to the barrels, and some people seem to think the caps are oversized - but I think they have an elegance and appeal of their own. Look forward to hearing how you find yours!

I agree about the aesthetics. I think they'd look much better with a clear cap and probably taper the top of the cap a bit. But who is buying a pen for beauty for 28 bucks anyway? It writes well and is comfortable to hold.

The cap neither bothers me nor particularly excites me - "it is what it is"! But I actually quite like the unfaceted barrel - it makes the pen more 'see-through- and highlights the ink even more than the clear 'Diamond series' pens. For $29, this is a really good buy.

I'm also liking the look of mine. It has an engineered, precision clean look. After one month using it almost exclusively, I'm still finding myself staring at it and watching the ink move around. Filled it with Private Reserve Tanzanite.

Haven't had any startup or ink burping problems either, except a very small amount after one of the three flights I've had it on. It is a wet writing fine nib, and I've noticed my hand writing is adjusting to it.

I had spoken before about my black TWSBI. So enthusiatically loving it that I am waiting for my white one, 1.1 nibbed ECO. I love the Ef nib and I am pondering about ordering another Extra Fine ECO . I really, really think this is the best value bpen of the year! i was hoping to receive the white ECO today from Goulet but it did not arrive. Must wait till Monday then.

I forgot to say:

I was undecided whether ordering a fine nib for my VP or another TWSBI. Of course, the TWSBI won, Now as I see it, I can have two TWSBIs for the price of just one VP nib, so I think the third TWSBI will come soo. Bye, VP fine... you will stay with your pragmatic, ugly Medium nib.

I ordered Bs, I should have ordered italics.... lesson learned.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

Aside from needing them ground what is wrong with the B nibs? The B on my 580 was super wet and awesome.

I've recently realized that I don't actually use my Bs, I only use my ones that were stubs or have become stubs.

Yeah, I rarely use anything that isn't italic either. Bs make great italics, though.

I was surprised at how different the line weights were between my 580 and Ecos. The 580 nibs are definitely wetter and broader than their counterparts on an Eco---too juicy for my De A inks.

Why are there fourteen samples of dark plum ink on my desk? Because I still haven't found the right shade.

Is that a problem...??? : : : sigh : : :

Update: Great. Finally found one I love (Lamy Dark Lilac) but I can't get more. Ah, life in my inky world....

I quite like the aesthetics, although I know at least one reviewer who doesn't dig that clip so much... But we're still collaborating! If you'd like to see our shared review, it's up here - but most usefully, there's a 10% discount up for the next week.

Received my second white ECO with 1.1 stub from overjoyed.com.sg today.

First one is inked with Sailor Seiboku while the second one with Sailor Souten.

Then I realized there's no way to tell which is which, so I tagged them with numbers to remember.

I'm sure I will end up with more ECOs as an "ink bank" so numbering them probably isn't a bad idea.

Good, I think I will adopt it!

I have a different setup: my blacks are for SF and F and the whities are for Broader nibs (so far I have 3). Numbering is the next level which I will use for similar inks on similar colored pens. I used a very dark green once that looked like black except on the rim of the section.

I got a black Eco at the San Francisco International Pen Show. I admit to being quite new at fountain pens, and left-handed as well. I have been using a Diamond 580 since Father's Day (thanks to my daughter), and have been quite happy with it. The Eco is leaving me unenthused though. A part of the problem was the Pelikan 4001 Blu-Black ink that I got with the pen. Apparently a bad batch, wouldn't work in the pen. I gave up and handed it to my daughter, who is quite good with pens; she cleaned it out and filled it with Waterman Blue ink. It writes somewhat better, but it doesn't start writing letters when I do, leaving the first 1/8" off. It seems to skip a lot, dries up easily, generally difficult to write with. It has a medium nib, as opposed to the extra fine in my 580.

I have tried everything I can think of, but that is not much. Any suggestions as to how to get it to write the whole letter instead of just pieces of it, or nothing at all?

Thanks

Pelikan ink is very dry but there should be no issues with Waterman. Have you rinsed the pen with soapy water? Are the tines aligned - they can be only slightly off so that it does not seem scratchy but have a large impact on flow. Have you checked that the nib (slit) is aligned with the feed slit? You can check this by looking into the breather hole with a loupe. Short of that, it's likely just not wet enough.

The nib and feed of the Eco are so easy to pull out that I'd do so - give them a good rinse (and/or a soak in soapy water - but remember to wash out the soap!). if you're satisfied that the dud batch of Blue-Black hasn't contaminated the new ink, then dry the nib and feed, realign and reinsert (you might want your daughter's help with this?). Force a bit of ink through with the piston knob, and see if that sorts out the problem. If not then, as the previous poster suggests, the nib may need a bit of adjusting - and that's a whole nother discussion...

Just got my TWSBI Eco today, in black and with a 1.1 mm stub nib. I have inked it with Montblanc Burgundy. This is my first TWSBI ever and I'm absolutely loving it!

Got TWSBI Eco EF in black a few days ago. A smooth writer and performs well on cheap Staple notebook.

May get a white one for F nib.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
