Went to Tokyo back in March (if you want spoilers on the loot I have a previous post here, or just watch part 3), and we've just finished processing the videos. I had a tonne of fun, thought it was worth sharing. Enjoy, and ask away if you have any questions!

I haven't yet watched part 3, but I just want to say I really enjoy your videos Leo, the style is utterly unaffected and great viewing. I didn't know you were on FPN!

Excellent reporting on your recent trip to Japan, koofle. And Ohasido and Nakaya- you are obviously saving the best of the lot to the end. Well done!

Hello! I have been for a while, I just don't post often. *laughs* Thank you for watching. I'm glad you find joy in my videos.

Love the videos. Thanks for sharing! Really inspiring me to take the trip to visit the show next year.

Now that you have this new horde of pens, you have to do video reviews of each of the pens.

Thanks for posting this. I enjoyed watching them. I hope to make a trip to Japan in the next year or so, myself.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

Hi Leo,

nice videos, fun to watch and beautiful goodies.

I really like your old scroll-like penwrap. What brand is that, and where can it be bought? (video two, the black one)

A collector of inks, currently doing my own ink challenge.

My regular one with 10+ slots is a StarArt paintbrush wrap which I bought for around 4 USD locally. After three years of use, I have replaced it with a maroon one of the exact same model.

*laughs* Loft is awesome, as is Tokyu hands. Coincidentally, I really did bring two suitcases, one inside the other, for the trip. Turns out pens and inks don't really take up much space and ended up donating most of my empty capacity to one of my travel companions who had purchased a large number of figurines.

Yessir! Dealing with my massive pen review backlog now!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
