Hi friends,

I'm wondering which should be the very 1st japanese fountain pen a collector (at this time, a low budget collector) should get .

For sure, there are so many nice (fancy, expensive, exclusive…) fp, such as "Nakaya Naka-ai FP"…

One of my favorites is Hakase, that I've seen on a fp book, but I couldn't be able to go through it

But that's something I'm willing to.

Regards,

Marcelo

Some of my very first pens were Jinhao's, they simply do not get any cheaper and are actually decent pens considering they cost about $1 - $2!!

Have a look on eBay for bargains. The x450 and 159 are both great starter pens :)

BTW, these are Chinese, so not really answered your question, sorry :P

low budget huh Pilot 78G if you can get from the right sources... also depends on the market because in asia the 78G is the cheapest of the lot yes way way cheaper than the Pilot Metro by 5 USD :3

but if all else fails get the Metro if not the kakuno else the penmanship this should get you started then you can start to upgrade from there

Either Prera, Lecoule, cool balance from Pilot, Sailor and Platinum respectively

if you still like to upgrade

Custom 74/Heritage 91, Profit, 3776 Century again respectively the same as the top

if you like piston fillers

Custom Heritage 92, Profit Realo as your next upgrade choose wisely my friend the latter one in this line is the more expensive offering compared to the first

then from there it will be up to you should you want to collect what

do you like vintage

do you like shop exclusive goods (this route will only be undertaken if your really into Sailor as its easier, but Pilot also has some but its rarely done so can be either easier to the wallet or harder on the wallet)
