Yay!
Thank you @Bo Bo Olson for posting the comparisons 👍

You have reminded me that I need to use my 4001 Violet again soon.

Also, that Mb ink dark is really rather dark, isn’t it?

Thanks for the review. It would interesting to see this one up against Pelikan Violet (which is relatively inexpensive) and MB Lavender Purple (which isn't). I like both of those inks and the color of the Lamy Violetseems to be in the same range.

Yes, that MB ink is a more a purple. There is a hint of violet where the ink shades, but it's only a small amount of shading.

I have to use up the inks in 5 pens, before I can worry about my purples....and need more 3-4 more pens.

................

5-6 years ago, the E-15 I paid for that MB ink was "reasonable", the modern price gouging is not!!

MB was always a bit expensive...E-12 for the old 50 ml bottles.

When they came in with 10 ml more for only 1 Euro more, that was proper pricing........not that I bought many MB inks then. They were a once every couple year $$ inks, unless it had a great review. I was new and MB was my most expensive ink, back in the day when I dithered about bidding up to E-70 for a pen.

It went up to E 15 after and for a few years...and tiny LE bottles were  E-20 or 25....still have two of their Diamond blue, one bottle unopened....not used in years, not as good as I thought...or I'd never bought the second bottle...of very expensive small  20? or 30ml??? ink.

Have other MB LE's.

They jumped the shoe from E16 to E-19 a couple years ago and the very next year, to E-22

The small bottles of LE...I don't know...very near or over E30.....I stopped looking when it was E25-6 to the E-19 shoe.

MB got to keep up with the Jones; both Cd'A and GvFC are more expensive and sell. Here in Germany Japanese inks cost E-25 and more....

:crybaby:Edelstein at my B&M is over E-20.....If the next ink is good, I'll talk my self into it :headsmack:.....luckily I have all the 'usable' Edelstein Inks.

Actually, having over 100 inks, I don't need any more.

Need?
Need has nothing to do with it! It’s want that craves/demands satisfaction! 😁

Germany is the pits....they won't allow me to build my little twenty acre pyramid.

They have laws aginst getting buried with one's bowling ball, and golf clubs...........I'm sure against fountain pens and inks with enough paper for the eternity.

Ya, I only got 9 inks in the last two months.....that I didn't need.

Well, one needs Diamine Silver Fox, if one likes shading.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
