Twsbi Eco

Recommended Posts

I checked Goulet's site. It is available in white/clear and black/clear. The white/clear combo looks nice to me.

The white one looks good. Definitely buying that when it comes out.

Please note that it's scheduled to arrive late July 2015. Your comment (above) made me think they had arrived earlier than was expected.

Will you be one of the people to test out the new pen to determine if TWSBI got it right from the beginning?

Gonna buy it when it comes out. If there's any problem, TWSBI has really good warranty to cover any manufacturing defect.

So TWSBI Eco is available for pre order from purepens.co.uk for 24£ or 37.4$.

Gouletpens.com offers them for pre order at 28.99$.

Another UK supplier has opted for the more usual "swap the dollar sign for a pound sign" technique when pricing TWSBI, and is proposing to ask £28.99. Or a little over $44. Ouch.

I probably will. Along with a bunch of ink samples to take advantage of their sale.

As we are having a pen Show here in Boston on September 20th, I will probably be holding onto my $$ until after the show.

Every success in the "Eco" purchase.

I expect there will be at least one or two reviews fairly soon after they arrive

Available for pre-order from purepens.co.uk for GBP 24

(no affiliation, except having happily bought from them before)

I should have pre-ordered when it was £24

They are now offering the pen with mini Rhodia set for £28.99

(pen £24 + Rhodia set £3.95 = £28.99, you do the math)

:roller1: so much for under $30 pen...

According to TWSBI, the nib will be the same size as the TWSBI Mini.

Ouch. That's nowhere near $30, even with VAT taken into account.

It's a common practice for prices to go that up..

A few days ago TWSBI announced on Facebook that their products are now available at a local greek shop.

I was quite amused by the comments that suggested the prices would be a steal considering the economy...

(580/mini: 70 EUR for regular nibs, 82 EUR for stubs...)

There are no pen shows in Minnesota. :crybaby:

You could always start simple if you know several other people (who live close to you) who are interested in pens/paper/inks. Even if you just got together informally it really is noce to sit around a table and just talk pen and stuff.

Think of it less as a pen "show" and more like a pen "show & tell & and ask questions". That's what our regular meeting are - sometimes with a little buying/selling and trading.

Where in Minnesota are you? Near any larger cities or college/university campuses? I'll bet there is a nice pen community around Rochester and the Mayo Clinic!

Keep plugging away and most importantly, enjoy yourself here on FPN.

Twin Cities. I know there's a pen club here, but from the "minutes" I've seen typed up, I haven't been impressed enough to attend.

Minutes????

We just get together, talk pens, do some show & tell, ask questions - informally (no Robert's Rules for us, thank you)

If it's not too far to travel, you might consider one trip.

Also, online here (someplace) is a "virtual pen posse which might warrant some checking out. Not sure where it's listed or how it works.

Good luck.

If you want, you can PM me and we can chat about pens etc. sometime.

The community over at /r/fountainpens on reddit has a few people who've already received these and posted pictures.

Album 1

Album 2

Related thread with lots of answered questions.

A few particulars of note to those potential buyers here:

The ECO is:

14 cm capped

13 cm uncapped

16.2 cm posted

Compared to the 580

Nib is a #4, same nib as the TWSBI Mini:

The nib and feed unit rotates and slides out very very easily. There does not appear to be a flat edge or notch in the feed unit; doesn't look like there is a specific orientation that it must be inserted.

You can definitely post it, and there is a rubber seal around the back to hold the cap in place, but overall the cap is way too big for the pen so it looks awkward.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
