What length size pens are these? Looks like they are between Mini and 5xx size.

Well I was going to get a Nemosine or Conklin as a Graduation gift for a friend, but I think I will wait and get this for him instead.

For that price, I'll certainly have to give one a try. I really like the TWSBI design and can't get enough of the demonstator appearance of so many of their models. Thanks for the post! Here's hoping it comes to Canada around the same time...

I agree. At that price, it is definitely worth giving it a try.

And if it performs as well as I'd hope, then it could well become a go-to recommendation for an entry-level pen - at not much more than the cost of a Lamy Safari, but with a piston, it's easy to see myself giving one or two of these away as a gateway drug introduction to fountain pens.

Of course, we'll have to see what it costs in Europe (somehow I can see $29 = €29 = €29).

Available for pre-order from purepens.co.uk for GBP 24

(no affiliation, except having happily bought from them before)

The 1.1 stub nib also shows up at that price, plus free UK postage, that's more than a fair deal! I'll go for one for sure.

I've recently been hooked on TWSBI. I was going to try for a 580 in Green as I have a guitar in that very same colour, but I think I might wait for the new offerings this summer.

Can one really have too many pens?

+1 on Pure Pens, I was waiting on the start of the month to pre-order mine as my pen and ink budget is already blown this month, only 4 more days to abstinence to go.

No! :)

So space and time are linked together. As we are looking across space, we are looking back in time. The further and further away those stars are the further back in time you are looking. Now you are seeing a star that is say six thousand years ago. Imagine somebody at that star looking at us They would be seeing us as we were six thousand years ago. I don't see any metal support in the section. Sure hope they have their cracking issues solved.

I don't think the section is removable. The chance of it cracking would be pretty low unless being dropped.

I owned 3 TWSBIs but recently had one stolen. The build quality is really good and as you said, "can't get enough of them".

Are you familiar with past TWSBI cracking issues?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
