I wonder if it'll be available a bit sooner in Europe? Gorgeous ink in my favourite colour. A must buy for me.

Really liking the two-toned sheen on top of the emerald color.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

I'll finally give a J Herbin 1670 a go.

what a brilliant reason to buy a teal coloured Lamy Al-Star.... :)

Ahh. Emerald...Emerald City...so, the official ink of both Seattle and Oz?

Well I am off to see the wizard and get a bottle of that ink on the way back..... :D

Meh. I hoped it was time for brown or green.

Oh, I would really love a brown one. Can you imagine with a golden sheen or even a coppery sheen??

I honestly thought this would be more green instead of green-blue, but I don't care, it's gorgeous. Perhaps they will release a truer green down the road, given the popularity of this 1670 series.

I'm so excited for this ink. The more I look at it, the more I fall in love with it. This falls right dead smack into the 'need' category LOL

Ooooooooo! lovely colour.

But is the micro gold particles safe enough to use? I am considering use it in a demonstrator.

I say silver :3 would be better

But if the undertone is blue, particularly on the dark side, I do prefer gold.

I'd maybe add that a blue/green with copper would be pretty classic...a thematic homage to verdigris. Name could be..."Crusty Old Statue in the Park". lol

Wouldn't risk it in a demonstrator. The gold tends to settle in one spot when you set the pen down. It will mix up fine when you lift the pen and start using it, but you might find very small stubborn bits of gold left in places. I'm not speaking from experience though; I haven't used any of these inks in a demonstrator but in a converter this can happen depending on the type.

Thanks for your information.

If the gold particles are not fine enough, it may block the pen with no doubt. Then we just assume such things may not happened. If the gold particle is fine, however, such particles can left on the channels of the feeder. According to no-slip condition in fluid dynamics, such particles just cannot be flushed out through using. You may consider the dust on the fan blades or on your car. Thence, it will definitely damage your pens in the very end.

Conclusion, I believe these inks are not safe enough to use. Of course I am not speaking from experience either. Purely theoretical.

Anyone with experience?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
