Iroshizuku Fuyu-Syogun—A Handwritten Review

Here's an awesome grey ink with gloomy, attractive blue undertones.

With time this ink has grown on me.

I love this ink! On some papers it looks more silver than gray.

Every time I look at the above sample I seem to see a different shade making it hard to put my finger on exactly what it is! Or maybe that's the drink!

Thanks for the review! Your writing really makes this ink shine. This is one of my favorite inks. It's very subtle.

I also love this ink. I use it with fine nibs on CF and Rhodia and find it superb in every respect.

I thought I would like this one, but I found it a little too pale; plus I never got the lovely blue undertones that everyone seems to get in reviews.

I have this in rotation, but I really don't like it. I think grey really is not my cup of tea.

Thanks! I love grey inks! I love the look of this one it almost has a hint of blue to it. I am going to have to try this one out.

....And oh look...I have a tree for this! I agree...it's an interesting blue grey. Some days I like it and other days I find it's just too cold for me.

Yes...I've been working my way through my bottles and samples. It could take a while...especially since more keep arriving dispite my best intentions to not buy any more.

My thanks for your kind words regarding the trees. I find the same thing happens when I am looking at some of the beautiful handwriting around FPN. Part of my adoration of FP ink is the way it behaves. It's not like slapping down paint...it's moves. It has a living quality that continues to change from the moment it touches the paper.

 

When someone puts cadmium red paint on a canvas ...it stays cadmium red. A thousand people can put the same colour on a 1000 different surfaces and it is will remain the same colour...whether it's applied with a brush, a stick, a finger...who cares?.... It's cadmium red...today, next week...next year.

 

Ink ...has a mind of it's own. It hates some nibs and dances with others. It will fight some paper and make love to others. It's a fickle creature and I facinated with it.

 

Regarding a thread dedicated to them....a fountain pen friend had suggested the same thing but I need advice where to stick such a strange hybrid art/ink sample thread? Any thoughts?
