Con-50 Option Finally Added To Massdrop Deal On Metropolitans

Please disregard this opening post and read the second post. I accidentally checked the wrong "html" box. This resulted in very wonky formatting. I think I figured it out by my second post.

My ink-swap post(s) become out of date eventually. My signature is always current. If you want to swap some ink, here's what I have: Diamine: Ancient Copper, Oxblood, Poppy Red, Red Dragon, Sherwood Green; Iroshizuku: Kon-peki, Ku-jaku, Take-sumi; Noodlers: 54th Mass, BSB, Purple Martin, X-Feather, Widow Maker; Private Reserve: Blue Suede. I'm partial to highly saturated inks, but am open to suggestions. PM if interested.

Hi folks!

I haven't posted for a little while (sorry about that), but I wanted to alert anyone who might be interested in a positive change in one of Massdrops periodic offierings.

The Metropolitan 2-pack has become a popular sale item for them. They sell it at a compelling price, although you really have to be patient and wait a while before you get what you order.

Regardless of the wait, their customer service has improved remarkably in the past few months. But that's not why I'm writing. Finally, they are offering to include up to 4 CON-50 converters for each order of a pair of Metropolitans. If you're a penny pincher but like to write with nice stuff, I think it's a good deal. The cost comes out to (for those in CONUS) to just shy of $25 (shipping included) for 2 Metropolitans (most selections available).

Those who are interested can tack on up to 4 additional CON-50s for $5.00/each.If you're comfortable with the Massdrop process, this seems like a pretty good deal. I'm not "singing the praises" of Massdrop. I'm not a Massdrop shill. I just thought folks might like to know. The deal lasts for either 3 or 5 more days more.

In order to get the deal you have to "join" Massdrop (it's free). This means that they might bombard you with regular emails telling you what they're carrying and why, oh why, you just have to buy it. I filter those messages directly to their own folder and don't bother with them unless I'm expecting a specific message.

Otherwise, they seem to pretty cool with individual privacy (at least as far as I know ... so far).

For those who are interested in joining, there are two ways to do this:

1. You could click on this link: https://www.massdrop.com/r/6C2LHU

If you do this, then I get "credit" for referring you to the site. If I get a certain number number joining, etc through this link, they'll give me three magic beans and a really big bean stock will grown in my front lawn. Or was it a back of beads? Or something else. Anyway, if enough people join by going through my link, I get something from them. It's a mystery, except that it's stuff that I would probably like - ie. from their writing community.

Option 2: You can join by going directly to Massdrop.com and going through their regular front door. Actually, your joining process is exactly the same regardless of which link you click. If you go through my portal, then I can PIF some, most or all of the stuff they send to me. My goal would be for everyone to win, essentially. So obviously, I'd rather you go through link #1, but I hate asking people to do stuff like this and I haven't posted on here for a while so I'm sure I've lost some cred, here.

So as objectively and honestly as I can make it, there you have it. I'm happy to answer any questions I can about Massdrop or anything I've mentioned in this post. I just ordered 2 Metropolitans (one with a medium and one with a fine nib) and 4 CON-50s. My "out the door" price was just $44 and change. Whether or not you think Massdrop is a good idea, I think it's a pretty decent deal.

Hope everyone is getting into the swing for summer.

Cheers!

Wow. I felt awkward asking folks to consider signing up through my portal and wanted to be as objective and thoughtful as I could be. Someone took option #1. Massdrop doesn't tell me anything about who the person is - only that someone did. So ...

I have no idea who you are, but ...

Thank you!

Cheers!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
