Montblanc 149 Real Or Fake

Hi Guys,

Just having a look on eBay, an online retail shop selling the Meisterstuck 149 Red Gold. They have two of these and many other various Montblanc pens, wonder if you could let me know if it is legitimate or not.

Here is the link below:

Kind Regards,

If you're in the market, you will find that 149's (of all stripes) are listed here in the classifieds at reasonable prices.

For what it's worth, the seller erfobay is reputable and I believe many FPN members have purchased from her (I believe her name is Monica) before without issues.

See:

Current Wishlist:

Visconti, Visconti, and...more Visconti! (And some ST Duponts too). (Ok fine, getting on the Omas and Montblanc trains now too. Toot toot.) (And maybe on the Montegrappa one too, but only for the Miyas.)

Read this post, tell you about how we feel about people asking for authentification of MB pens.

Actually read that yesterday, haha apologies :).

Also, Thanks everyone for the support and I dealt with a sales manager named Gerardo.

Everything seems to have been sorted out.

Will look into the classifieds as well.

Thanks again for the warm welcome, and glad to be part of the FP Network.

Looking at the duofold next.

Kind Regards,

Real. There are no fake piston-fillers.

Hi, i recently thought the same, I 'almost' got scammed via ebay - the fakes are getting better and better :(

Ebay alerted me of the fradulent seller and I requested my money back via paypal - the pen was still delivered

(This was going to be my first FP as well..!) Pardon the photo's, taken with my iPhone

This fake isn't a piston filler, it has a cartridge converter (which works on a piston principle)

Nathan,

That has to be the most comprehensive fakery Meisterstuck I've seen yet, from the pen detail to the packaging and booklet. What was the seller getting for these, and where was it shipped from?

And are you sure it's a fake? What model was it supposed to be? (I have two C/C MBs).

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Fake 145. The converter is the give away, wrong type and marked MONT BLANC.

It's always fun, I wouldn't see these if they weren't posted individually.

But I prefer the posts asking if the site offering Carnegie LEs for $5 is legit.

Just received the Mont Blanc, such an amazing pen, the red gold is very subtle not very different from the regular 149

Hi,

I called it a fake (outside eBay alerting me) by the print and quality of the pen box. The booklet was actually 10/10 in comparison to other authentic examples I have. I actually had a laugh at the exterior cream packaging - they certainly went to great lengths!

The pen itself was 9.5/10 - held up to light the (resin?) body even shown red - as soon as you held it, you could tell by the weight it was not genuine. The converter had 'Mont Blanc' & was printed poorly, yet looked a reasonable duplicate from the outside.

I placed a bid @ 189.00 and was unsuccessful, only to receive a second chance offer which I accepted.

I recently sold this example on gumtree, clearly noted as a replica for $50 (sold within 24 hours)

Good to hear it went well, this is a big step in the life of a FP collector.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
