Diamine Sherwood Green Review

Ambrose Bierce

Recommended Posts

I think green is my favorite ink color, or it would be if I could find one I really liked. I bought Sherwood Green without think about it hoping to would satisfy my inky needs, and for the most part it has. It is slightly lighter than expected, and it is a little drier than I like. It's a pretty good ink though. I wouldn't say my hunt for a perfect green is over yet, but Sherwood Green can hold me over until I am. I have to say though, this ink is the least waterproof out of any ink I have ever used. There is practically nothing left behind after water is added. Not a huge deal to me, but I know that is a major dealbreaker to some. Here are the photos!

Thanks for the review! This one that I still need a bottle of.

If you're still looking for that perfect green ink like I am, check out Montblanc Irish Green. It's probably my favorite green ink so far.

So many inks, so little time...

That one is next on the list. I ordered this from Goulet, and they don't carry Montblanc sadly so it'll have to wait until next time

Diamine Sherwood Green is one ink I have wanted to try for some time, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. It looks like a nice deep rich green from photos. Is there sheen?

And I love your twsbi mini! I have the same one - white & rose gold! Isn't it a beautiful pen?! ;)

I have only used this ink in my mini, which is a is about a 6 on the 1-10 wet scale (10 being the wettest). It is also a fine italic, and with that I have not seen any sheen yet. The swab had a good amount though. My guess is that in the right pen you would get some sheen. And yes I do love my little TWSBI.

I have this ink, and really like it, its a nice deep green, with perfect flow. Cleans up easily. I mostly use it with fine nib, didn't experienced any sheen, but its hard to experience sheen with fine nib.

Thank you for the response! :)

I agree the Twsbi Mini isn't on the wettest scale. If I want a gushing pen I use an Ahab with a 1.5 Goulet stub lol. Then on Tomoe River I can see how much sheen an ink will give. ;)

This ink is one that I really enjoy. It is SLOW to dry. My bottle is old and slightly desiccated so it sheens like crazy. I'll try and take a picture.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
