I haven't read all the posts, so pardon me if I'm repeating what others have said.

I have just logged in on my iPad using the full site the way I always do and I have a banner of ads at the top of the thread (between the FPN banner and the thread posts. The ads are for real estate in the locations I was searching yesterday.) The previous time I logged in (yesterday?), there were different, non-FP related ads in the same position - Gotcha Movies?

I still have the pen related ads down the RHS, which don't bother me at all.

I am accessing the site via the latest iPad Air and using the most recent versions of iOS (8.3) and Safari.

Thank you for your report.

We're still frantically working on this. No solution yet. There seems to be some mix-up somewhere in the area between mobile use, iOS, Apple and Google.

Warm regards, Wim

It is really weird as on my Android tablet (4.4.2 Lenovo version, currently using Sleipinir browser) I now also have the one bar on top.

In Windows: no adds.

I received feedback from the ad agency that they will remove those ads which redirect immediately.

No solution for mobile devices yet, for that top bar.

Redirect - I got sent off to some weird sites (whatever was in the top bar ad I guess) when just visiting from my phone. I had to close out Chrome a few times to get it to settle down and let me read and browse. That was last night I think.

Apparently, but only on phones it seems. They told me they would stop it. This was after promising they would not use these for FPN.

So far, it appears it only happens with phones. I know they can see the difference between a phone and a tablet - which we clearly can't currently, in the board software....

Ehhh, I still don't know what you mean with redirect, but I have that top-bar on an android tablet, not phone! But the adds I get are decent enough now! Don't mind these if this is going to pay the bills for FPN future!

I thought the point was, if you are logged in you shouldn't be seeing the ads.

When I am signed in on my Kindle Fire I too am getting ads that are NOT pen related....located part way down the top of the screen just above the area which displays the forum that I am in.

These ads also seem to slow down the loading of the page... sometimes the ads are local to my geographical area (surprisingly) and other times they are not geographic specific. NONE of these ads have anything to do with Writing Instruments.

When signed in on my PC (windows xp using mozilla firefox) I do not seem to have this issue.

Next time I sign in on my MAC Air laptop (with IOS and safari) and my iphone I will see what happens and report back.

Exactly. This seems to have been brought on by the iPhone log-in fix, and we're working on it.

Thank you, Bill, much appreciated.

The non-pen related ads should only show when not logged in, on any device. The iPhone (=Mobile) issue we had last week, seems to have thrown things out of kilter, as the solution seems to effect the software at the mobile level rather than just the iPhone. We're trying to resolve it, one way or another, which unfortunately is not going very fast yet.

Exactly, as Wim said. But I was commenting that personally I would not mind seeing those ads in the unlikely case the problem will not be resolved IF it helps paying the bills and keeping this forum alive. This as a buffer on the penrelated stuff and the donations.

but...YMMV

We've pinpointed it slightly further now. With a bit of luck, but don't keep your breath, we hope to have a solution by the end of the long weekend.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed ....

I just got a confirmation that the redirect ads now have been removed from our profile, with apologies from the ad agency.

Wim:

For info:

Nothing has changed on my Kindle Fire I am still receiving non writing instrument ads when signed in.

Additionally, I had never attempted to acess FPN using my Iphone. Out of curiosity this morning I used Safari and I signed in to FPN...Just like my Kindle Fire I am receiving non writing instrument ads on my iphone.

So it looks to me like nothing has changed or been corrected.

Ads have disappeared from some pages (view new content) but not from others, like this thread. Good start!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
