cant you guys just buy straight from BB I mean they do ship internationally...

You can but it cost a lot more. Vanness is the quickest and easiest way to get them at a reasonable price. I love Sailor inks so much and they have a great selection.

For a REALLY nice color you should see their "FRESH ORANGES OF LAKE HAMANA" but I gotta say I loaded up a new calligraphy 1.4 pen that arrived this morning & their NOSTALGIA is mighty fine as well! I haven't met a Bung Box color that I don't like & if you think the Vanness price is expensive compare the offers for the same ink @ Amazon. The price there is $35.55 with $22.08 shipping. (With Vanness offering free shipping over $35.00 order I think it is a "steal!"

That came in on Saturday.. my friend Kathy ordered 3 BB ins from Vanness (the Oranges was for me.) PenJockey and I fiddled about with it on Sunday. I haven't inked it up yet, but I stole PenJockey's Twsbi (m) and filled out a contrast color for a review sheet. He had Sweet Potato in it.

Bung Box inks are available at Vanness? Who knew?

But YOWZA! The prices! :yikes: I thought Iroshihzuku inks were pricy....

Thanks for the review, though -- that's a nice color.

I'm very pleased with Vanness. I've ordered about 5 bottles from them. They arrive promptly, except one which USPS delayed and not them.

The prices are on a par with what I paid for Cigar buying it directly in Japan + shipping to here. There is also the peace of mind knowing the ink already survived the puddle jump to the States.

Also, I have to confess... I love their teeny tiny Rhodias and ink journals :D

Very nice. THank you.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

No it doesn't. I regularly buy straight from Japan because shipping charges USA/Canada are too ridiculous for words.

My last batch of BungBox cost me $29/bottle Canadian... shipping included. That's Canadian dollar... equivalent to $24/bottles USD.

Unless for some unknown reason BungBox shipping charges to US are totally different than Canada.. :P

Wow, what a beautiful color! Thanks for the review.

Finally got a bottle of this recently. Doesn't darken down as much as the review pic, sort of like lines 2, 3, & 4 under Writing Samples section, but lighter. I don't mind, though, it's a lovely color. Good flow, seems wet enough. Using in a PG Slim M.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
