Adjusting Collar On Section On Lamy 2000

The tabs on my Lamy 2000 that are use to hold the cap seem to be rotated compared to all the other Lamy 2000s I've seen. Instead of being in line with the horizontal plane of the nib, it's rotated round by 30 degrees or so. The tabs are in the slots in the markolon collar that's on the section, so it seems that it is this collar that is rotated.

In writing I don't really notice it but it's annoying that it's off as the pen is amazing in all other ways.

Look at the disassembly video in the thread https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php?/topic/227631-lamy-2000-and-the-origins-of-lamy-design/page__view__findpost__p__2431621 at around 57 seconds you can see the makrolon collar just come off. I tried this on my 2000 and it seems that it is stuck or glued in place.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to rotate this around?

For anyone who has disassembled their 2000, was this Makrolon collar glued in place on yours?

I know I could send this into filofax for warranty work, however this pen has already been in three times and this is the only problem. I'd hate to send it in again and find that it comes back with a different, new issue.

Thanks.

[EDIT] Added photo. Apologies for the poor quality, working with an unfamiliar operating system OS X.

Can you post a photo of your pen?

Thanks for the reply. Added a photo to the original post.

The makrolon collar seems to be spun on the section. I think the collars are not glued on and you can carefully turn it to get it straight. See a fully disassembled L2K below, and you can just see the part you're asking about is a thin sleeve...

Thanks for the reply. That was my thought too from search results and the video I linked to before it looked like this collar could just be rotated round.

However on my 2000 I couldn't get it to turn just using my fingers and wondered if any one thought that they might have used glue or something.

Well, you might try disassembling the section (remove barrel, c-spring, and feed/nib from interior of section) and then giving it a good soak for a day, then apply some mild heat just to the collar and see if that is enough to free it. A gripper of some sort to help grab the sleeve would be helpful.

Thanks risingsun, did as you suggested and adjusted the collar. While I was at it I tweaked the nib for a little wetter flow and it's now a great pen.

My only thought now is if the Fine is this good, the medium must be amazing.

Thanks again.

Thanks Chrissy. I should be happy with the fine that I have on it now as it does seem to suit my poor handwriting.

I don't think that I could justify buying another 2000 just to get a medium/broad nib, but if one comes up in a potential trade, I'd definitely think about it.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
