Both at the time this thread was current and now, I can't find this ink on De Atramentis' site, or at Goulet's, as mentioned above as a source. Am I looking in the wrong place on DeA's site? How do you find it? Or does Goulets' do special orders?

For people in Australia who are interested in this ink, Larrypost.com.au (no affiliation) will be ordering it in 3 months with their next De Atramentis ink order. I will be buying it from them because their service is excellent. I will let you know when they have it.

So difficult to find this one. The only place I've found it that ships to the US is the De Atramentis site, and they want 43.3 Euros for the ink + shipping. That's over $45 for a 35 ml bottle of ink at today's exchange rate. The shipping is nearly 2.5X what the ink itself costs!

Not no, but F no. I'm not that curious about it, that's for sure.

Larry.post.com.au (no affiliation) have it for sale at $19.95AUD (about $14.60USD) but I don't know if they ship to the US and shipping costs may double the price. If you PM me, I can probably send you a sample - I have 3 bottles.

They say they don't ship to the US.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm still recovering from a cyberstalker who became a real-life stalker. That means I'm beyond paranoid about giving out too personal of information online.

I found this ink as I was searching through the inks on Vanness's site. I managed to get a bottle before it disappeared again.

Is it the same color? I got a bottle of (non-scented) Albrecht Dürer (which USED to be listed not the D'A website as being Silver Grey several years ago) from Vanness a while back, only it's now listed as being "Anthracite" (a slightly grayish black) on the bottle (and, IIRC, on the D'A website as well.

Not at all what I was expecting.... :(

My experience with the scented inks are hit or miss. Red Roses is glorious. Patchouli is an interesting color but the scent was AWFUL (and not remotely like patchouli smells). The samples of Lavender and Black Roses didn't smell like much of anything. And I keep forgetting that Apple Blossom is listed as being scented (but it's okay because I still like the color). Haven't tried any of the others -- they're mostly either scents I don't like (like Lily of the Valley) or colors I don't like (like the Herbs de Provence).

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

For US customers, VanNess carries this ink; however, a) they don't seem to get many bottles of it and b ) it tends to sell out as soon as they get it. I got the email yesterday that they had it available, and ordered it today. By then, they had only three bottles left. So now they're down to two. I expect that they will be gone before the weekend is out.

Get on the restock notification list for VanNess, and jump on buying this the second you get the email, else you'll be waiting weeks (or longer!) for it to show up.

This is my birthday present to myself. Actually, the birthday was this past weekend, but late birthday presents work as well as the on-time ones for me!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
