I'm pretty sure I have one in one of my boxes of earthly delights. I can't give any more details as advertising is, quite rightly, not permitted in the discussion forums. If you get your post count up to access the Classifieds that would be your best option. Alternatively, send a representative to the London show in October as I often take such bits and pieces along to supplement my stock of beer tokens.

Check Dutchpen's ad in pen parts. I bought an EF 18K L'etalon nib from him. Very satisfied. I use it in a Phileas.

Pajaro, can you tell me how you get the l'Etalon nibs in the a Phileas? The nibs in the l'Etalon are combined with the section and the section doesn't fit in the Phileas. Or am I missing something? Susan Wirth told me this too, and I'm really really puzzled by this.

I clipped the L'etalon nib onto the Phileas feed. It went right on, and the nib and feed pushed right into the Phileas section.

Rather than begin a new thread, I'll add my request here:

Does anyone know shops that have a Medium Etalon nib section (gold point) for sale?

Many thanks in advance!

You might look in the classifieds, look for member Dutchpen. He often has Waterman parts for sale.

L'talon nib unit is friction fit. The L'etalon nib can be fit onto the Phileas feed, after you remove the Phileas nib from the feed. Phileas nib and feed are friction fit into the Phileas section, and they can be pulled out of the section. Then you can take the Phileas nib off of its feed and replace with the L'etalon nib. It clips onto the Phileas feed. Then you can put the L'etalon nib and Phileas feed into the Phileas section. I put a L'etalon 18K extra fine nib into a Phileas. It's one way to get an extra fine Phileas.

This is correct. The L'Etalon gold nib fits onto the Phileas feed. It's a really nice upgrade for the Phileas as the Phileas barrel is a nice diameter.

It's not easy to remove the nib and feed from either a Phileas or a L'Etalon for the first time, especially if they are new, but a cycle in a warm USC is usually a great help. They are both friction fit and pull straight out.

I've upgraded 4 Phileas pens with gold L'Etalon nibs.

The upgrade cost for me was: $35 for the used Phileas and $65 for the L'etalon EF nib, for $100 US total cost. I have been writing a little with this pen, and it is pretty good, writing a nice smooth extra fine line and not drying out between uses. This is just as good a performance as my Pelikan M300, M320, M400s and M600. Also as good a writing performance as my Montblancs. All these other pens cost a lot more, of course. Parker 51s and some Sheaffers would be as good for a lower cost. The Phileas with a L'etalon nib is a pretty fair deal.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
