I see that there have to be 200 votes to contact a distributor but do there have to be 200 votes for a specific pen for it to be an option?

No 200 votes overall

The most popular options in the poll will make it on to the "drop"

Is it ok if I add another Pelikan demo, the M205 to the vote?

--never mind, I just found the M205 is up for voting already--if anyone wants to add a vote, that would be cool.

Voted for the Cafe Creme. My husband wants this one and I KNOW he'll let me use it because I've lent him my Platinum #3776 Chartres Blue for ages. (I can't justfiy buying any more pens for a long time!)

Is Massdrop USA based ?

If so, anyone ordered from the UK ? I guess we have to factor in VAT and handling charges on top of the price

The poll is up to 310 votes now, well above the total necessary for Massdrop to pursue it, so hopefully this will indeed happen.

Thus far, according to the stats on Massdrop, the Café Crème is in the lead with 123 votes, the M205 has 89 & the demonstrator 69; only 29 for the Classic M200. The Café Crème will be chosen I am sure, but I am also quite sure we need more love for the demonstrator, my 2nd choice. :D (Though, to be honest, the more photos of the Café Crème M200 I see, the more lustful become my thoughts. :P It has a very nice looking combination of colors, IMHO.)

First things first, of course, but the next hurdle will be to get folks to actually BUY one of the pens via Massdrop so that we can get the pen or pens down to the lowest possible prices.

Pen Chalet in the US is taking pre-orders and mentions a March ship date. With the code PenAddict there's 10% off.

I'd be careful ordering from the UK. You'll probably have to pay 20% VAT and a £8 handling charge on top of the purchase+shipping cost. It may end up cheaper buying from a regular internet shop.

You can pick up a Cafe Creme for £90 posted currently, the mass drop price would need to be below £69 to get any savings, and I'd probably want it at £50 to make it worth my while.

I hope this drop happens. Voted Cafe Creme

I hope it happens also. Is there a time limit to reaching 200 votes?

Massdrop is great -- I got a m400 on a recent drop for $200 and there was no issue at all doing a nib exchange with Chartpak. I don't think it's grey market.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
