Graf Von Faber-Castell Guilloche Help

Recommended Posts

I've had a GVFC black Guilloche pen for perhaps a dozen years (more than 10 less than 20). While it is a very pretty pen, and seems to have a good reputation, it really doesn't suit me (weight, section size, nib width), and so it gets no pocket time. I was thinking about selling it or trading it, so I went to look in the usual places for the list and street price.

I noticed that the current generation of guilloche pens seem to have two tone nibs. My pen has a one tone gold nib (see below). The markings on the nib look right, and it says 18kt, but before I list it, I would like to be sure I am not selling a Frankenpen. Were the GVFC nibs on this pen simply gold in years gone by?

I appreciate the reassurance. BTW, while my photography skill are obviously not so great, my nib is yellow gold, though the rest of the pen is silver colored (Rhodium?).

How do you take such nice pictures of highly reflective objects? They still look silver, but without the glare I get from almost any light source.

These comments make me sad as I sympathise with Ruaidhri, having great difficulties in being taken seriously. Or being taken at all (no off-colors jokes, please!) In spite of overwhelming odds,  Ruaidhri -now I know how to spell it- made a courageous decision and stuck to it. I was diagnosed with a similar growth in a place I will not reveal. Oh, well, if you insist it was Mount Sinai Hospital. But I firmly intend to walk in Ruaidhri's footsteps, if he will let me, on my next visit to Dublin.

Reminds me of the day my associates and I developed a cure for all mankind's ills and mistakenly wrote it down with invisible ink.

Was that the end of the Laboratory? Somehow the exactitude created a fully destructive device, as always!
