Yup.. Maybe ASA can give us some prototypes and we can move ahead

Or on the other hand we can try to get a new idea...

One thing that comes to my mind is celluloid piston filler.... Maybe we can work on it

yes i have already started sketching out fountain pen .. will share the details soon....

Actually two pens... one oversize and one small one....

Vaibhav,

The pen looks remarkable you should be proud that this is the result. For the next one we should explore bulb and other types of fillers.

Joshua

Sure ...

also i expect you to put in some thoughts or ideas into design too... skecthing here and there might do...

Hi Vaibhav, thanks for sending me a PM about this topic. I have just placed my order for the Asa Sniper with 1.1mm italic nib - my favourite nib size. There was an option for me to select "forest green" for barrel, cap and section colours - I wonder is this an error? Regardless I will be happy with any coloured body.

I really like hooded nib pens but I'm glad the nib does not appear to be completely shrouded. I am hoping to add a Franklin Christoph Model 25 Eclipse to my collection later in the year as I am intrigued by the "semi hooded" design.

Thanks for helping to get this group buy going.

Hi,

Is it too late to order one? I'd love the brushed black with a fine nib.

ETA this pen looks amazing!

Vaibhav,

Thanks for getting this together, I really like the end result. I have put in my order for 2 pens. I was not sure if there is a complete Brushed Demonstrator Model (all parts Barrel, Cap and Section to be Brushed Demonstrator). I did see an option of Brushed Cap and Barrel, but for the section there was no such option. All brushed demonstrator model would have been really cool.

Do any of you know Mr. Subramaniam's contact details? Maybe I'll give him a call and check with him about such an option.

Regards,

Vikram.

I received my order confirmation this morning so I am very pleased. I selected 1.1mm nib in Forest Green. If funds allow next month I will add in a B nib in brushed black also.

I'm so happy there is a prototype out there already. The price also appears very reasonable.

Will def. order a transparent tomorrow or the day after....With black cap, or transparent also?

Any chance for a photo of the pen posted and approx. measurements of that? That would be swell. #pretty-please

Love me a pen that posts well.

A motion if I may:

I really like the prototype and I'm going to buy one pen as soon as I'm done writing this, but there is one thing that I don't like. Maybe there's still time to change it; oh, and it is easy to change if one wants.

And that is the name.

To be forward, 'sniper' is a word with an ugly meaning.

I for one would be much happier if the name could be something friendlier, more peaceful, something that evokes more noble emotions than death and bullets.

As a sensitive person -I couldn't sleep at night because of this, and got up to write this- as a sensitive person -I say- I believe these things:

- Details like this matter and they have every right to. See, if the name of the rose was in fact 'ratpoison flower', then, I'm sure, it would take no time at all before people had started using a nicer name for it.

- Harmony and peace in the world must start with willing individuals (as society really is just individuals lumped together) and it must root in their hearts and minds. That is why, IMHO, education and awareness are of utmost importance to the fate of the world.

Now, I understand the name, it's not that it doesn't fit. I just feel a more positive choice would be a better choice.

You could call it the '20-15', pretty basic, streamlined name, and it mildly suggests that it's an homage to the L2000

or '20-20', similar but with a twist, as '20-20' is synonymous with 'perfect eyesight', hinting at the sharp lines of the pen.

You could call it 'the Hoodie', a piece of garment that I think is a great invention. But maybe that's too cute for some people's taste. Not for mine, nothing's wrong with cute in my book.

Or 'cloak', it's like hood, only more romanticized.

Really, I think whoever gets to decide this can find many many good ideas in themselves.

So this is my proposal, please consider.

And 'to keep up my end of the bargain' I'm off to order my pen now.

Okay, thank you. I will do that in a day or two.

But I would like to know if there are other people here, who might also feel that way. Do you feel as well that the name could be a bit less grim? Or maybe this bothers no one at all, only me?

I don't really care about the name, just the pen.

But I do like Snipers.

I think sniper is about training, efficiency, sharpness and results and not about the gun.

Besides, the hooded nib very much makes it for a very interesting comparison.

Lamy & Pilot FPs the Best

No more I even think of the rest

Pen is meant for writing - not for looking :-)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
