That is exactly how I like my pens : somewhere in the spectrum between F and M. I know it's boring, but smaller and it gets to scratchy and delicate, bigger and my e's become a hole in the paper.

Thank you for the clarification. Nudges me closer to becoming a $ supporter. I've gotten a lot of help from members here.

I try to help with the knowledge I have. Can't say it's as much as those who helped me.

:D

That's just a matter of time. When I got back into FPs 12 years ago, there was very little I knew. Now I am a full-fledged nib-enhancer :).

(1) I am always looking for The Perfect notebook. Until now, I have used Levenger's Notabilia (grid)...ever since 2000. The paper is FP friendly, but it's a bit stiff.

The best I've found is the California Palomino Blackwing notebook, made by the same pencil enthusiasts who make the California Republic and new Blackwing pencils. Their notebook has beautiful FP-friendly paper and it opens flat. I suspect that CalRep sources their notebooks from Japan, home of great paper, great pencils, and more than a few great fountain pen companies.

Perhaps FPN could source FPN notebooks though California Republic? We don't necessarily need the imitation leather cover, so that might save some cost.

(2) How about FPN "business" cards? Often, I have been at a pen shop -- FPH or the dearly departed Art Browns -- and talked with other pen "addicts". We gather in places like that. Just about as often, I find that people don;t know about FPN, FPGeeks, and FB Board. I rip out a page from my notebook and write the Internet address, or suggest that they Google the names. My handwriting is awful. Much better to have something printed, with FPN logo...just for emphasis.

Maybe that's something for each pen club? Business cards are pretty cheap, and a pen club could put a contact on the back side of the card. Yes...thinking...it would probably be a serious chore to distribute cards from FPN Central, but not so hard to print a few hundred cards for New York City, SF, Regina, London, etc.

Just a matter of getting the FPN logo...and having the right to reproduce it.

I second the comment about Palomino Blackwing notebooks. I use the Blackwing Slate and it is marvelous for FP use. Would love to see FPN notebooks and willing to pay any necessary cost increases for the privilege.

Thank you kindly, both, for the suggestions and the support.

We will look into these options.

Would you do another FPN pen in the future? Well as an idea you can do 2 versions the expensive one which is like the passporto and the cheap/beginner one that is just a custom China made pen.

At the time, the Passaporto was the cheap version, the expensive ones ran well over $300 :).

The first FPN Pen was a special edition of the Bexley Simplicity, with special blue veined cracked ice, and blue Jewels, the seond series was quite a few different pens, all made by Stipula,:

- 2 different Passaportos, one with gold coloured trim and one with chrome trim, in 3 different nib sizes

- 2 different Modello-Ts, with MOP clip jewel and with Saphire clip jewel, with Ti nib

- 4 different Etrurias, in Azurite with silver trim and gold trim, and in celluloid with silver trim and gold trim, with a choice of 3 14K nibs and 3 18K nibs

Because they were so popular, we did another short run of FPN Passaportos, only in Chrome trim, and of Modello-Ts, with Saphire clip jewel. As of today, they are all gone actually :). These were priced higher than the earlier run, simply because they were much shorter runs and cost more to produce, BTW. They are distinguishable from the first run because the inscription carries the year as 2012, the earlier ones were produced in 2011.

Will we do another FPN pen? Yes, I think, I started a discussion on this same subject last night.

I have 2 manufacturers in mind right now. When we get to a point close enough to possible production, I am sure we will make an announcement :).

Well I can't give away an 80 dollar pen! I was hoping for a giveaway pen so I can be like this:

"I saw you like my fps so here is one for you. If you need any help go on the site that is on the pen"

And Not:

"I saw you like my fps so here is one for you. If you need any help: write this down and google it "fpn" also I can help you out too."

Well, to be very honest, I wish we could afford to do giveaway pens.

Any pens we have ever created, were meant as a booster for funding. This means it has to be worth our effort, and stand in relation to the total cost for a pen. I doubt anyone would be very happy to pay, say $5 for a pen and $15 for shipping, apart from the time it takes to check and package a pen. Do note, we all are volunteers out here, the team which runs, moderates, administers and manages FPN. Any funding we receive, from any means, is always put back into keeping the site running.

Having said that, we are looking into more affordable pens anyway.

Regarding the refund for the FPN exclusive ink: will we have to reorder, and will those who had bought before (and got the refund) be given a heads-up? I still want my Voltaire and Charlie pen, and I don't want to run the risk of being too late to order...

Sorry if this is the wrong place, but have done a search and can't find any alternatives

I would like very much to donate funds to FPN, but I refuse to use PayPal because of previous frequent negative experiences. Are there any alternatives?

Hi Rob,

For some unknown reason PayPal did not send a confirmation. That has been fixed now, so next time you log in everything should be ok.

Thank you WIm. Don't mind supporting this community. Does a yearly membership have an automatic renewal feature, along with a notice? I belong to a golf forum and the automatic renewal feature along with a note is a great way to keep funds rolling. My congrats on the growth OF FPN.

Yes, Bill, that is exactly what happens.

Essentially it creates an automatic renewal in the board software, which means you get a reminder, which in turn allows you to renew if you so like.

And thank you kindly for your congratulations!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
