This is Journal 158B "OM-4Ti" - an addition to my white series of journals .

My 8th TR Journal

A6 size

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2012/2012%20Journals/Journal%20158%20OM-4Ti/Journal%20158B%20OM-4Ti/056.jpg

This time I tried a different thread size in trying to learn more about whats best when stitching TR paper.

I used this COATS BARBOUR linen thread, unwaxed.

#25 gauge , 3 ply

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2012/2012%20Journals/Journal%20158%20OM-4Ti/Journal%20158B%20OM-4Ti/054.jpg

I didnt change those techniques that worked - 10 Folios in one Signature and folded at one go.

However, I changed the way I pierced the signatures.

This time I used a thick needle held in a vise.

Doing this yielded holes that were smaller.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2012/2012%20Journals/Journal%20158%20OM-4Ti/Journal%20158B%20OM-4Ti/089.jpg

I also tried something different, I added one more pair of sewing stations.

It now is stitched with 3 pairs of sewing stations instead of 2 pairs.

Here it is compared to my usual journal design, with thicker stitch cords.

This picture also illustrates that my TR journals keep to the same thickness as my usual journals bearing much heavier paper.

Coincidentally, they also weigh about the same !

(so no savings on $shipping  )

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2012/2012%20Journals/Journal%20158%20OM-4Ti/Journal%20158B%20OM-4Ti/091.jpg

The stations are adjusted closer to each other and also closer spaced within one pair.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2012/2012%20Journals/Journal%20158%20OM-4Ti/Journal%20158B%20OM-4Ti/092.jpg

I had to make another piercing template for this ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2012/2012%20Journals/Journal%20158%20OM-4Ti/Journal%20158B%20OM-4Ti/090.jpg

This is a variant of Journal 158.

This one is uncoloured.

Since the stitches were white , I used these white covers to match the colours and keep the colours to a minimum.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2012/2012%20Journals/Journal%20158%20OM-4Ti/Journal%20158B%20OM-4Ti/062.jpg

Here you can see the stitch patterns slightly smaller than my usual threads.

ie, the proportion of thread gauge to signature thickness.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2012/2012%20Journals/Journal%20158%20OM-4Ti/Journal%20158B%20OM-4Ti/063.jpg

I am not sure if threadsize is a factor, but here you see the signatures kind of stay aligned atop one another. I am pretty relieved to see this result

For the flyleaves I selected off white colors to keep the journal to plain whites and shades of white.

This is the front flyleaf.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2012/2012%20Journals/Journal%20158%20OM-4Ti/Journal%20158B%20OM-4Ti/070.jpg

Taking advice from the bookbinding forum, this time I tamped down the bookblock (before glueing the spine)ensuring the head of the book is straight and level.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2012/2012%20Journals/Journal%20158%20OM-4Ti/Journal%20158B%20OM-4Ti/083.jpg

Here the tail end becomes a little more uneven.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2012/2012%20Journals/Journal%20158%20OM-4Ti/Journal%20158B%20OM-4Ti/084.jpg

The rationale is that uneven signatures tend to collect dirt and dust more easily. The second reason is that aesthetically , it looks a lot better , especially when shelved. The tail end doesnt really get noticed.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2012/2012%20Journals/Journal%20158%20OM-4Ti/Journal%20158B%20OM-4Ti/085.jpg

I have mentioned in my other TOMOE River review thread that one way of reducing the distractions of ink 'showthru's on the reverse page is to lay a black piece of paper or card underneath,

Here I just cut a black page from a magazine and used it as an underlay.

You will notice that the 'showthru' is markedly reduced.

This is my 9th attempt on a TR journal ...

Here I am experimenting with using thinner threads.

I used 100% linen threads by GUTTERMANN.

Its very thin.

I dont know what thread gauge this is.

This is the one in yellow.

There is also a red version not pictured here.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20152%20Maroon%20Waves/Journal%20152A%20Maroon%20Waves/150.jpg

Becos it was so thin, I decided to use two strands together.

It was quite tedious to stitch becos the two strands didnt always stick together.

anyway, after twice as long a time spent stitching, I arrived at this

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20152%20Maroon%20Waves/Journal%20152A%20Maroon%20Waves/097.jpg

As I studied the patterns closeup, I could see that it sort of was untidy looking.

Here is a closer shot.

(I should have taken an even closer shot)

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20152%20Maroon%20Waves/Journal%20152A%20Maroon%20Waves/098.jpg

I gave up...

deciding to abandon this ...

I cut out the threads entirely.

I decided to re-stitch but this time using only one thread - the yellow one ..

This was the result

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20152%20Maroon%20Waves/Journal%20152A%20Maroon%20Waves/100.jpg

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20152%20Maroon%20Waves/Journal%20152A%20Maroon%20Waves/104.jpg

I dont quite like the size of the thread.

Its too fine.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20152%20Maroon%20Waves/Journal%20152A%20Maroon%20Waves/102.jpg

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20152%20Maroon%20Waves/Journal%20152A%20Maroon%20Waves/105.jpg

Compared with the 6th TR journal in Dark Purple,

and yesterdays new OM-Ti

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20152%20Maroon%20Waves/Journal%20152A%20Maroon%20Waves/107.jpg

Another view ...

If you look intently enough, I think you can just discern that the journals with 6 sewing stations , seem to be better shaped. ie they seem to keep their form better, compared to the journal with only 4 sewing stations.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20152%20Maroon%20Waves/Journal%20152A%20Maroon%20Waves/111.jpg

I feel that the threads are too fine...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20152%20Maroon%20Waves/Journal%20152A%20Maroon%20Waves/108.jpg

I'll probably re-stitch this journal, ie getting rid of the stitches entirely .

I find that it is too thin to contribute to its aesthetics.

I like Japanese prints, especially the ones with the traditional indigo shade of blue.

And sorry folks, yes, another dragonfly motif !!!!

I just find them very nice ....

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/010.jpg

In planning the cutouts for various covers, its always challenging when the fabric print graphics are mono-directional. ie, the graphics are so printed that there is a right way up.

This presents a challenge in trying to fit in as many covers efficiently without undue wastage.

There wasn't enough fabric if the covers were laid this manner.

So i had to come up with solutions.

(incidentally , the fabric size is a 'fat quarter'.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/009.jpg

I decided to create borders with these covers.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/012.jpg

The covers were laid carefully and the fabric cut as exactly as possible. There wasnt spare fabric to permit a cutting error.

Here the fabric is glued onto the greyboard and trimmed exactly to the edge.

For reasons that will become apparent later.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/014.jpg

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/015.jpg

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/016.jpg

My technique of a spine border accent is to do it in such a manner that it will be flushed level with the fabric ,

this means adding a card of a thickness that is same as the spine border material to achieve that flush effect.

Here , I found a calendar page of that thickness.

and created that extra thickness.

BTW, high print quality magazines and calendars are made of very good quality paper. They are ideal for all kinds of applications. You only need to find portions of appropriate coloured ones for use.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/013.jpg

Frontside

Here you see that shoulder on that fabric cover, ready to receive

that spine border material.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/011.jpg

I just love this print.

Its very nice. :clap1:

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/017.jpg

The unique thing about this fabric is that it has texture.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/024.jpg

The edges and corners turned in...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/022.jpg

Again, here you see the fabric cut exactly to the edge of the coverboard.

For those attempting this, you cannot achieve this cut without a rotary blade.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/023.jpg

In my fabric journals , I usually apply glue to the edges of the fold-ins.

Doing this prevents the edges from fraying , especially when you start to brush on the glue to receive the flyleaves.

The brushing action is abrasive enough to fray the fabric edges.

Doing this, seals the edges of the fabric.

When the edges fray, you get strands of fibres running amuck on your cover, and if they escape your notice, you will glue on the flyleaves unknowingly, and ... yup .. when everything is dried, you see that strand embedded underneath your flyleaf .... :crybaby:

I usually wet the corners and clamp them till dry ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/038.jpg

when dry they can become very flat , depending on how long and how hard you clamp them ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/010-1.jpg

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/012-1.jpg

In this pic , you can see the dried glue along the edges of the fabric.

This seals the edges of the fabric, preventing it from fraying ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/014-1.jpg

I chose to do the yellow ochre spine border first...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/007.jpg

This is a closeup , and you can see very slightly, the little bumps underneath the bookcloth spine accent.

whatever that is underneath is just as important as the finished surface.

These bumps you see are actually the texture (ridges) of the fabric.

This is why I cut the fabric to cover the entire cover, even though its hidden underneath the bookcloth.

I used to use a different material for this underlayer (under the spine accent)but learnt quickly that the joint becomes visible.

This is another view of the underside, illustrating how things underneath are actually quite visible.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/011-1.jpg

The flushed level effect ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/002.jpg

This is the first time I am laying a spine accent over fabric ...

With this spine accent, I can use white stitches if I intend to use TR paper.

The white stitches gets shown off by the contrast against the bookcloth.

My guess is that the white stitches may 'disappear' into the fabric, if there isnt any spine border at all.

HOW TO SHELVE AWAY YOUR TMLEE JOURNAL ...

When you shelf away the journal like this amongst your other books ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2010%20HOW-TO/How%20to%20Shelf%20Journal/014.jpg

Keep the band closure inside the rear cover ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2010%20HOW-TO/How%20to%20Shelf%20Journal/017.jpg

Closer view ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2010%20HOW-TO/How%20to%20Shelf%20Journal/018.jpg

Place the band over the anti drop-out flap like this in the rear cover.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2010%20HOW-TO/How%20to%20Shelf%20Journal/019.jpg

Doing this preserves the elasticity of the band.

(the elasticity will eventually come loose one day)

It also acts as a more secure closure to your pocket.

Only when you carry it around, then you use the band.

I was excited about the blue spine accent colour combo, so I worked on it first ...

This is the 9th TR journal attempt.

Band deployed ...

I stuck to what I found works best when stitching TR paper.

I used #25 gauge thread, 3-ply , 100% linen, natural white.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/Journal%20170A%20Happy%20Dragonflies/013.jpg

I also found that 3 pairs (instead of my usual two pairs) of sewing stations seem to help the book keep its shape and form better.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/Journal%20170A%20Happy%20Dragonflies/012-1.jpg

The book has less 'wobble' with 6 stations ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/Journal%20170A%20Happy%20Dragonflies/028.jpg

I felt the addition of the bookcloth spine accent , helped to accentuate the presence of the white (not easily noticeable) stitches.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/Journal%20170A%20Happy%20Dragonflies/014.jpg

If the spine accent was not there, the stitches are likely to 'disappear' into the fabric motif design containing the white dragonflies...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/Journal%20170A%20Happy%20Dragonflies/016.jpg

I decided to add contrasting flyleaves , to add that dash of colour , amongst the subdued hues ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/Journal%20170A%20Happy%20Dragonflies/015.jpg

Blood red flyleaves ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/Journal%20170A%20Happy%20Dragonflies/017.jpg

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/Journal%20170A%20Happy%20Dragonflies/018.jpg

What I find challenging is the stage where I tamp down and align the bookblock to 'fix' them into position - neat and all aligned, before applying glue on the spine.

somehow the paper is smooth and supple and they tend to slide over each other , ever so easily.

In doing so, I have to make sure they are aligned enough so they can stand upright on its own.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/Journal%20170A%20Happy%20Dragonflies/023.jpg

I picked a blue ribbon instead of red, to keep the flyleaves distinct - the only element of a different colour...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20170%20Happy%20Dragonflies/Journal%20170A%20Happy%20Dragonflies/024.jpg

This journal is a nicely made one ...

The flushed level spine accent is exact.

The selection of the correct thickness of the underlay proved all too important ...

I continued experimenting on this design ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2013/2013%20Journals/Journal%20168%20Escher%20-%20Whirlpools/022.jpg

Years ago, I bought a little book on Elliot Erwitt's photographs ..

His candids are very likable ...

At that time , I could see the potential of his pictures adorning some journal covers.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20147%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth/Journal%20147G%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth%20-%20EE%20Ladies/020.jpg

I decided to use this picture ...

Quite a tight squeeze into an A5 coverboard ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20147%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth/Journal%20147G%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth%20-%20EE%20Ladies/013.jpg

I had in mind to use these 3 elements ..

A black bookcloth,

leather accents,

and lime green flyleaves to match the striking green facing page ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20147%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth/Journal%20147G%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth%20-%20EE%20Ladies/015.jpg

Even after trimming the picture down as small as possible,

it remained too large - too near the corner accents ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20147%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth/Journal%20147G%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth%20-%20EE%20Ladies/016.jpg

I did two things,

Rounded the corners of the picture, and

reduced the size of the corner leather accents ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20147%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth/Journal%20147G%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth%20-%20EE%20Ladies/017.jpg

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20147%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth/Journal%20147G%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth%20-%20EE%20Ladies/018.jpg

I decided to make the green label in the same proportion as the picture ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20147%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth/Journal%20147G%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth%20-%20EE%20Ladies/023.jpg

I searched for a thickish paper that would be the same thickness as the leather accents ...

Did the cutouts to receive the picture.

This time I tried something different, I tried rounded corners , wondering if it is do-able ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20147%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth/Journal%20147G%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth%20-%20EE%20Ladies/027.jpg

Next , after the underlay card was glued,

I glued on the bookcloth...

I am glad I purchased a Teflon bonefolder months ago. Burnishing the corners and edges and the recesses left no stains at all.

Amazing !

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20147%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth/Journal%20147G%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth%20-%20EE%20Ladies/028.jpg

Ready to receive the leather corners ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20147%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth/Journal%20147G%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth%20-%20EE%20Ladies/029.jpg

As usual, the leather had to be skived down ...

I dont look forward to this, even though its only 4 small pieces ... :crybaby:

Fresh (supersharp) blades make this stage more bearable ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20147%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth/Journal%20147G%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth%20-%20EE%20Ladies/019.jpg

The leather glued on ...

I like the stark black and tan leather contrast ...

very nice ...

The rounded corners also add to the retro look ...

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/TMLee/2011/2011%20JOURNALS/Journal%20147%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth/Journal%20147G%20Jet%20Black%20Bookcloth%20-%20EE%20Ladies/033.jpg

The folded in corners ...

I usually flatten my corners really flat.

It helps make the journal nicer when everything is completed.

I usually wet the corners first,

then clamp them down overnight to flatten them thoroughly ...

Your choices never fail to delight.

It's so enjoyable to see the process of you selections.

The group shot, with the other elements, is just so.. charming.

The matched leather is perfect.

Thank you for continuing to share with Us.

Thank you for your kind words :cloud9:

It's good to hear from you :D

I am wondering what coloured stitches to use now.

I was thinking of a thread the same color as the leather corners.

That would be super.

Even after trimming the picture down as small as possible,

it remained too large - too near the corner accents ...

I did two things,

Rounded the corners of the picture, and

reduced the size of the corner leather accents ...

I decided to make the green label in the same proportion as the picture ...

I searched for a thickish paper that would be the same thickness as the leather accents ...

Did the cutouts to receive the picture.

This time I tried something different, I tried rounded corners , wondering if it is do-able ...

Next , after the underlay card was glued,

I glued on the bookcloth...

I am glad I purchased a Teflon bonefolder months ago. Burnishing the corners and edges and the recesses left no stains at all.

Amazing !

Ready to receive the leather corners ...

As usual, the leather had to be skived down ...

I dont look forward to this, even though its only 4 small pieces ... :crybaby:

Fresh (supersharp) blades make this stage more bearable ...

I like the stark black and tan leather contrast ...

very nice ...

The rounded corners also add to the retro look ...

I usually flatten my corners really flat.

It helps make the journal nicer when everything is completed.

I usually wet the corners first,

then clamp them down overnight to flatten them thoroughly ...

Not sure now what stitches to use... :hmm1:

My favorite one yet. I have been collecting old photos for a similar use. Haven't got around to it yet.

Your design sense is impeccable!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
