The Ink Of Witch - Bung Box

Recommended Posts

Some time ago Tinjapan send some Sailor LE ink to Sisnistral1 who, in turm, sent the rest of the samples to me. Thank you both of you :) S

Sailor is my favourite ink maker. Sadly their most interesting inks are available only in Japan or from internet retailers. Getting ink from Japan is expensive.

Ink of Witch is one of the inks I would consider adding to my collection. I like it a lot.

The other one is Nostalgia - has anyone used it?

I love this ink!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Easily my favorite black-purple or grey-purple from Sailor that I've tried.

The RGB codes are very helpful. Thanks for the detailed review.

Ask not what your fountain pen can do for you, ask what you can do for your fountain pen.

Vis, let me guess, you always see the young woman in the picture?

I really like this ink. Currently waiting for Vanness to get it back in stock.

I really like this one. It does come out black from a wet pen. Then if you look closely, you can see some hints of purple. I love using it at the hospital where we are supposed to use black ink. I can always find a page I've written on when I use one of these almost-but-not-quite-black inks.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

Not for me. It just looks black, and I don't use much black.

I have NO black inks NOR am I interested in black pens. BUT I wanted an Omas 360 & found a full size model that was a very good price & since I had NOT even written with one found it the best choice to "try" before wanting one of the new Arco models. I was VERY happy to receive the pen (even with a MEDIUM nib because it was "soft" & quite a "wet" writer) and used this ink for it's first fill. I loved it & afterwards have used similar "darks/almost blacks" in it. Each combination of the "mystery" inks in this pen have been "fun." I have since found a more preferred 360, yellow with a broad nib & it has appeared thru tracking with arrival in San Franciso. I will surely enjoy it but will always have a fondness for this ink because it made me appreciate a pen I was less than excited about.

A bottle of this, and a bottle of Oku-Yama, I save for those times I want to 'go stealth' and hide the fact that I'm not really using black ink.

In a fine or extra-fine nib, only fountain pen ink aficionados can tell that it isn't just black ink, but something special.

Sad to hear that Vanness won't be getting their next shipment of BungBox until December. Still waiting to buy Ink of Witch. Arghhhh

On a bright note, I have all the BungBox inks I want, except this one...so there's that.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
