I sort of question whether the cap really belongs to that pen. I've never seen a Mabie Todd with that style clip or capband.

The pen itself doesn't really =have a name, its a model near the end of Mabie Todd's US life. Its a 1930's pen. In the 30's, Mabie Todd made all sorts of versions of Swan, none of them advertised as far as I can find.

Thanks for your reply. I think you're right. The clip doesn't have a swan imprint like many of these do. Thanks for your help! 👍

Late post.... But this style cap appears on some strange brown striped Swan pens that crop up on ebay.

Here is a current auction

And a second one, as chance would have it.

So the clip and cap appear correct.

The design seems to be late, and the second listing says "made in USA" on nib. Maybe late US production after the company became English? I am a big Swan fan - as you can see from my picture.

Just seeing this now - but you are right, that is the same design as a few others I have, just I've never seen it in black.

Love the tangerine swan in your collection on the far left.

I can't get the grin off my face after seeing the picture on the MT Project Facebook page. Just Wow.

Here is a link with pics of most of my Swans. Just scroll down a bit and you will see the pictures. If any seem to be of any help, I can take good pictures and send them to you or post on FB.

Go and post - lets get the pictures out of the American Swans. So much literature on British ones, not enough on the Americans. You have some fabulous pens.

I should have made it a group - as a page, its a pain for other people to post. But I can create a post that you reply to, just tell me the category.

@Ruaidhri This was an absolutely wonderful bit of writing, and I hope that you're able to maintain the style once all of the medications are out of your system.  Take care and recover quickly!

These comments make me sad as I sympathise with Ruaidhri, having great difficulties in being taken seriously. Or being taken at all (no off-colors jokes, please!) In spite of overwhelming odds,  Ruaidhri -now I know how to spell it- made a courageous decision and stuck to it. I was diagnosed with a similar growth in a place I will not reveal. Oh, well, if you insist it was Mount Sinai Hospital. But I firmly intend to walk in Ruaidhri's footsteps, if he will let me, on my next visit to Dublin.

Reminds me of the day my associates and I developed a cure for all mankind's ills and mistakenly wrote it down with invisible ink.

Was that the end of the Laboratory? Somehow the exactitude created a fully destructive device, as always!
