I've recently purchased an unspecified pelikan pen, with purple cap and piston knob. judging by the size, it could be a m250 or an m400, since it has a 585 gold nib with Pelikan logo. It has one goldplated ring between the barrel and the piston knob. the gold plated ring on the cap reads "Germany", "Pelikan". the ink window seems to be blueish. I wish I could post a picture, but my phone was stolen and i have no way to take one until i get a new one. do you know how i could determine whether it is a M250 or an M400?

Difficult to say from your description. A picture would speak a thousand words here. I'm sorry that your phone was stolen. It most likely is not an M450 because those have vermeil caps. I'm not familiar with a purple cap and piston knob on any of the M2xx line. Are you sure that it isn't dark blue? There was a dark blue M250 that might otherwise fit your description (pic below).

How long is it? I'm going to guess it is a burgundy and black (red and black) M150 as I don't think there was a red and black M250. Doesn't sound like any of the M400 configurations to me either...

You say that cap and knob is purple, what color is the barrel? I am guessing that the the ink window being bluish is from staining.

I bet that is a beautiful pen in person.

it really looks like the pen in the picture, but i'd call that colour purple! maybe i'm colourblind. I wrote M450 in the title, but I actually meant M400. is there such a thing as an M450? More in general, how to distinguish M250s and M400s? are there simple criteria?

thanks for the quick identification!

Hi,

There are two M450 pens. One is depicted below - the 3rd pen from left.

The other pen would have vermeil cap with black barrel ~ sorry i dont have that pen photo at this moment.

As for the M250 pen (old style), it will be the the 3rd pen from right.

Not sure if this has been suggested already but would a setting for localized regions or chapters in FPN be helpful? I don't know if there is a way to find local FPN members who would be nearby. I don't know if we want to be discoverable but a setting to know how many members are in 25, 50, or a 100 miles of each other might be helpful. We can create a regions specific network like Craigslist where people could use that to connect with nearby members, conduct in person sales, arrange FPN meetups

Hi again all, I forgot to tell y'all that I made the post about Sweden ink PIF. Most have probably found it long ago, but here's a link, anyway:

I read your blog post and all the replies with much interest. I'm a FP user in Australia. Been part of this forum for years but rarely post. I did come across your ink sharing thread and considered participation. For me it's not lack of interest but lack of time to play around with FP and inks. I'd feel bad to put my hand up for the box and just have it sit until gosh knows when...   I also think that the FP community in Australia is smaller, and I wonder how many in the community are

Even so, you'd end up with a fragmented list, and it becomes an O(N²) process for each prospective requestor to check what is available: effectively recreate the list of currently active servers (without any reliable up-to-date info upfront about the inks and number of samples on offer in the thread) from the sequential list of posts, which may be spread over two or even more pages, and then query each server independently to check what is currently on offer.   It comes down to not hav
