Can someone provide the Costco SKU so I can see if the closest Costco to me has them...it's many miles away or I would just go there.

I called my local Costco and though the searched their inventory for "machinists chest" and "wooden chest" they couldn't find it. They told me that if I can get the item number they will search surrounding stores for it. Appreciate it if someone can post the number....

My receipt lists it as "922281 WOODTOOLBOX". Hope that helps.

Eclectic Collector - yes, that is what I needed. Thanks!

Jack (FPN member - Jackson) also provided me with an image of the Costco Advertising sign in the Costco store...same SKU 922281 as Eclectic Collector...

It is described as a TRINITY Wood Tool Box $99.99

I called 4 Costco's...apparently not all of the stores had them distributed to them...I found 1 store that had 1 left..put aside for me and I will pick it up tomorrow.

Thanks to Eclectic Collector and Jack (JACKSON) for providing the necessary information...much appreciated!

Glad you were able to locate one! It's definitely of much higher construction quality than the Harbor Freight chest, though the top compartment isn't quite as deep (by about an inch).

Are you pleased with the quality and construction?

Feel like you received good value?

Bill

Yes, definitely, and having Costco's great return policy standing behind it is an added bonus.

Thanks for the item number, I'll be calling tomorrow.

Is the top section deep enough for ink bottles?

The top section has an internal height of 2.75" including the space in the lid (versus the Harbor Freight chest's 3.125").

I put my ink bottles in the tall narrow drawer in the middle. I also put my small can of shellac in there, and there's still room for more. Obviously, I need more ink...

That is indeed the number, I called my Local Costco yesterday, they had one left besides the display and held it for me. I just picked it up. They will be getting in another 18 of them next week, the store in Norwalk, CT.

A little update. I discovered that searching COSTCO online with the SKU 922281, even with the name combination wood tool box, produced no results. For a lark I checked COSTCOs around the country, same result. I decided to call the Newington COSTCO store 227 to see if they still had the Wood Tool Box. You must speak to the admin staff. When I gave the SKU 922281 the person I spoke to said, "sure we have them, I'm showing 15 in inventory." Well, I have to tell you there are only 13 in inventory now...

If you don't want to drive to Newington, VA (or can't) there is a gentleman selling the exact same wood tool box from COSTCO, still in the COSTCO box, for $189 + approximately $18 to ship. He has five. You can always wait until next year. BTW, I sent an email to TRINITY the manufacturer asking if there was another way to acquire these wood tool boxes. Stay tuned.

Could someone be so kind to provide the outside dimensions of the CostCo chest? I just called my local CostCo and they have 31 in stock. If the dimensions fit my proposed location, I'll be swinging by my local CostCo very soon to pick one of these up.

Thanks in advance,

~Salt

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
