although I'm keeping an eye on this thread, will there be additional information about actual availability and price when the time comes, or does everyone have to pre-order somewhere in this thread or somewhere else?

Does anyone have a picture to post with a sample of the purple? Or is it posted somewhere on FPN?

Not much discussion about it, and I am curious how it looks.

Carl

Do a search for Dumas Tulip and you will find.

No preorder, and no orders by email. Probably we will set up the on-board shopsystem, like at the time we had the LE pens. But that is not sure yet.

So WAIT TILL FURTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS ABOUT HOW AND WHEN TO ORDER. (and don't hold your breath)

Wyche,

Thanks. I did look at the reviews for the Dumas tulip.. It doesn't seem to be a purple, but rather a wine color. Much redder than I thought it would be. I think I will still purchase it and play around with it. I am intrigued by inks that look one color in a particular light but different color(s) in another.

It is a purple, actually, but is a vintage style ink, with greyish undertones, and not a very strong colour. It is absolutely beautiful :).

This whole haematite/hematite thing is turning into a haima feud! As a practitioner of the crystalhealing arts, I only care that it is a trigonal hexagonal scalenohedral!

Still a bit more patience required, I am afraid :).

I'm going to have to try some of this Noodlers - I've never used it but I'm hearing good things.

Noodler's inks are a mixed bag. You can't try one and assume that it's anything like another one. You can't even mix inks from different lines: for instance, the Bay State Series inks are very alkaline, so only can be mixed with each other.

That being said, I have a lot of Noodler's inks, and the ones I have I like a lot. Even Bay State Blue (also known on some threads as "the ink that shall not be named") -- I just limit its use to pens that are dedicated to its use, because while I'm kinda OCD about flushing, I'm probably not *that* OCD. And I'm looking forward to getting at least some of these, because I missed the last batch. :crybaby:

OTOH, the ink I hated most on the planet was also a Noodler's ink -- La Reine Mauve, for which I can think of pretty much nothing good to say....

Oh wow - I picked the right time to join FPN!

I look forward to seeing the new inks; I'll definitely be buying "Starry Night"!

And probably the brown. :)

Man, I keep worrying this is going to drop while I'm out to sea and I'll miss my chance... >_<

"Out to sea" = Navy? If so, thanks for your service!

I would think you could ask whichever admins are in charge of distribution if they would let you pay for your bottle(s) and hold them until you are back stateside. If they can't accommodate you, or if you can't order while at sea, PM me and we'll work something out.

I work for the Navy but I'm not enlisted in the military. :D But thank you!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
