Pelikan M100 (white). It should be here tomorrow or on Thursday. In the same package I am getting some notebooks (Clairefontaine, Oxford, Staufen) which I got for somewhat ridiculously low price. Can't wait! :)))

Oh, I have done it again. I am now waiting for a 10 pack of Hero 616s :yikes:.

Well, if these are all authentic Hero 616s, and if enough of them work I'll be glad to have these additions to my pile of fountain pens.

Well, I've fallen off the wagon again but not that much. You could say that I am trotting along beside the wagon.

I got two Jinhao X450s for $1.53 USD. I think that the departure from atop the wagon is mitigated by the price I'm paying for the two fountain pens.

Now I just have to hope that they work  .

Well, they've arrived. They sure look like authentic Jinhao X450s, although I should say that I don't personally have any other Jinhao X450s around to compare them to.

They had converters in them too. I don't know when I'll have time to test these fountain pens out. Maybe I'll get to them some time next year, or the next?

I do note, however, that looking at the current listing on E-Bay for these pens, from the same seller, I see that while the pens are still C $0.99 the shipping isn't free anymore, it's C $5.99, which is basically six times the cost of one pen. I guess that some of us got one, or more, of these while the getting was good  .

I gotta ask ... how do you use so many pens? I've only got about 7 pens in my collection and I'm finding it hard to decide which on to use.

Do you use a different pen each day or do you use a pen for a week before moving to the next?

Proud owner of 2 pens here. Looking to expand to 8 soon. At first, I think I will be using a pen a day, all different inks. Later on I would probably switch to a pen a week after getting tired of so much maintenance.

Some people consume so much ink a day that they have to use 2 pens a day, so I bet they have a faster rotation. I have seen pretty large collections, and I hope they rotate their pens. Otherwise its boring to have so many but not use them. Unless you are strictly a collector.

People not only have a large amount of pens, but also large quantities of bottled ink; they get to try them all in a fast paced basis I think.

I try have different colors in my pens, so I can make different types of notes. I also have at least one pen inked with waterproof ink.

I wonder, I wonder,

I spy over yonder,

a couple new gifts ’neath the tree.

fpn_1449079791__p1010487.jpg

Hardly grasped that I had ’em,

you just cannot fathom,

how long I’ve been waiting for thee!

fpn_1449079825__p1010489.jpg
Now let’s try it out,

and see what it does,

what it’s all about,

what is all the fuss?

Red, Blue and Alpin (all with black clips) Safaris from Rolf. Pilot VP LE in Twilight from the Goulets. Oh, and a bunch of Midori inserts of various sorts for globe-trotting oldest son's journal (he's recently converted to fountain pens), also from Goulet.

Updated.

Okay, after having seen some people raving about them up here on FPN I have popped for a pair of Jinhao 886s.

I think that this really will be the last purchase before I get back on the wagon for keeps, or at least for another stint that lasts for years on that wagon.

I console myself with the fact that at least I am not breaking the bank with these purchases.

An anonymous "Sheaffer white dot fountain pen" I say on fleabay that looked suspiciously like a '70s or early '80s Targa in the classic chrome finish, and hopefully will resemble the photos on there when I receive it.

I just ordered a Platinum 3776 with rhodium trim, and a Pilot Decimo in grey. Both F. From J Subculture, expedient shipping. I wonder how long it'll be till I get my paws on them.

This is the most I've spent on pens in YEARS, my most recent purchases have all been under £25, and I was only intending to buy one pen but somehow two ended up in my basket :yikes: How'd THAT happen?

I had originally intended to buy a Pilot Custom 912, guess that'll have to wait now..

/e: And now I just ordered a Rhodia 2016 planner webnotebook! Quick someone take my bank card away!

Just ordered a Platinum 3776 Century in Chartres Blue and gold (what can I say, I prefer the look of gold to rhodium) with an M nib. Finally pulled the trigger on getting this guy.

The Pilot VP Twilight with XF nib that I ordered from Classic Fountain Pens is going to ship this week. I'm so excited! I fell for this pen hard and hope that it lives up to my expectations; it will be my first VP. I am thinking of inking it up with Pilot Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
