Oh, I like this one! How does the ink behave? Do you think it would flow well in a fine nib?

Yes, I did like this one quite a bit.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

There are some pinks & some purples in this one....

I wanted to see what some of my inks looked like with a dip pen. I typically prefer broad stubs, but it interesting to see how an ink looks with a super fine nib too!

The paper is Tomoe River.

I'm not tempted by Montblanc Pink until you mentioned sheen... Now I'm tempted to rush into a Montblanc boutique just next to my apartment ...

Well, I did not have any overwhelming sheen with a fountain pen, a little on the edges of the letters though. Most of the gorgeous sheen happened with my dip pen. Perhaps because it is so loaded with the ink it produced more sheen? And as always, the best sheen for me was on Tomoe River. ;)

I LOVE R&K Magenta!!!! I had a 2ml sample and used it all up!!! Please send any remnants to me! I would Love to do another co-razy review with you!!! ;)

R&K Magenta reminds me of Larmes de Cassis and O.S. Lithium...in that same vein...muted yet a soft and subtle loveliness to it.

I think my R&K Magenta looks a bit darker than your sample, Amber.

If I let it dry out in the pen, it improves in color, but I admit, it's not Solforino.

Solferino is definitely a retinal searing ink! A beautiful shade of purple too!

Do you have any Solferino Amber? If you want, when I get my bottle (eta June 29th) I will gladly send you some :)

I'd love some more. I keep thinking about buying a bottle, but I get sidetracked.

Stupid Amazon shipping lies! lol I ordered with the free shipping option, and turns out it is being shipped from GERMANY! Now I love Germany (not that I have ever been there yet), but I do not love that shipping time. :(

Regardless of when it belatedly arrives I will send you some pretty Solferino ink! ;)

Actually, when I've ordered R & K ink through Amazon, it arrived much faster than I thought. They give an absurdly long timeframe as an estimate, but then the product arrives fairly fast. The Germans are very efficient with shipping!

OH THANK YOU!!!!!!

As soon as I saw the estimated shipping on my receipt I regretted not purchasing through Goulet....but I hate paying $8 in shipping for every order. If I lived closer and shipping was less I don't think it would be such a big deal. But $8 is nearly another bottle of ink... So I thought I'd just save a few bucks and wait a couple weeks with free shipping on my whole order....oh how sad I was!

But I am EXTREMELY happy to hear that you received yours faster! They shipped it the very next day after my order. I was shocked that it would take longer than shipping from China or Japan. I guess I just assumed....well I don't really know, but I just assumed Western European shipping would be quicker. I've ordered from the UK numerous times without any problems or much delay.

I am so looking forward to receiving Solferino! :)

A new pink for me: L'Artisan Pastellier's FUCHSIA. Thanks to TRSS for this! [i should say that the squiggles were done in photoshop --the blank spaces needed a little something; but the rest is pen and ink.]

I know this is one of Amber's favorites, but another view of this might be handy for those scoring at home:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
