Blue Velvet - Diamine

Thank you Tas for sending me the sample of Blue Velvet.

I have mixed feelings about Diamine inks - I like them but I find many of them risky (they tend to clog pens, cause nib creep / nib crud). The colors are pretty awesome though.

As many of you already know there are sopme new Diamine inks on the market. Tas has kindly sent me samples of two of them.

Blue Velvet is nice and it flows really smoothly in TWSBI stub.

You're more than welcome.

You always manage to show an ink at it's best.

Thank you for taking the time to do all these reviews visvamitra!

+1

I was thinking initially about ordering this ink but after seeing your writing sample and Tas' and Bhavna's writing samples, I think I've accumulated too many similar blues to use this one enough so I will probably limit the 150th anniversary purchases to a bottle of the 1864 Blue Black.

The Good Captain

This is my joint favourite from this 150th Anniversary issue from Diamine. The other is Safari.

Great review, love the work you put into them.

I don't have those problems with Diamine inks. Noodler's yes, Diamine no. Guess we buy different inks.

In my hunt for a deep blue like Parker Penman Sapphire Blue i have ordered a bottle of Blue Velvet.

I picked up a bottle of Blue Velvet today. It's the closest I've seen to PPS yet. The PPS sampled here came from a cartridge, so there's not a great question of the authenticity. The M200 is a little wetter pen than the M800.

This is probably the prettiest blue I've seen reviewed here. I'm more of blue black guy, but that color is calling me.

Great! Thanks for the review.

I'm looking for a replacement for the bluest blue ink I've ever used, Omas Roma 2000. My bottle from 15 years ago is almost out. This looks the closest I've seen yet. I've ordered a bottle which should get here today, then we'll see.

Thanks again!

I agree that it's a great blue ink. It's also my joint favourite from the Diamine 150th anniversary inks. My joint favourite is Regency Blue though.

When I reviewed this ink I did a comparison with PPS, and they are very similar shades.

That looks like a very appealing blue....from a pink & purple girl....hmmm, I may need to find a sample of this one. ;)

Blue Velvet is also my joint favorite from the Diamine 150th Anniversary series, along with Regency Blue. I have been using both for about two months now, and have not experienced any problems. Both inks have been very well behaved.

Kindest regards, Robin

I received my bottle yesterday and tried it out last night briefly. It's a very nice blue. Not quite as bright as Omas Roma 2000, but definitely brighter and more "BLUE" than ASA Blue, for example. I'm going to really like this one. Now I'm going to need to get it into a stub so I can see it really shine.

Thanks for the review, and I recommend this one to those looking for a really blue, blue.
