What Lamy Are You Using Today?

To celebrate the creation of this long awaited Lamy forum, I propose to start the typical "What pen of this brand are you using today" thread, so popular in other forums.

This is my today's choice: Lamy ABC FP + pencil set. They are no longer made.

Just yesterday a friend arrived in Brazil, coming from US, where he bought to me a Lamy 2000 with an extra-fine nib. What a wonderful pen, fits in my hand perfectly, it feels robust and well made. The nib is impressive smooth, I was afraid to get a scratchy nib. I am using this pen today, and possibly will use it all the weeks to come.

Hello Bernardo,

That is a neat set. :D I hope you're idea of this "What You're Using Today" thread takes off. ;)

Hello All Lamy Fans,

Today I'm using a white Safari "M" loaded with Lamy Turquoise; a yellow Safari "F," loaded with Lamy Coral and a Wild Rubin Studio "M," loaded with a Lamy Blue cartridge, (but I think I'm going to ditch the cart early and bottle feed it with Lamy Black), - black ink coming from that ruby pen will really look sharp... IMHO.

Best regards,

Chris

Purple AL-Star with LH nib. Sailor Jentle Blue is the ink. When I'm out and about, this is my go-to pen and ink combination.

Charcoal Safari EF. The ink is R&K iron gall blue (or something like that -- the bottle's at work). It's my main "official" work pen at the moment.

Trying to hold myself back from having all my collection inked at once! I just got Diamine Macassar to go with my Coffee Al Star yesterday. I love Private Reserve Rose Rage in the 1.1 nib but I can't settle on an Al Star body that I like to go with it. Still don't like the co-ordination with the Graphite Al Star either (already had it in the Coffee and Shiraz bodies).

@ Bernardo: I like that box......

At the moment have my wife's charcoal Safari at my desk.

I let her try a new Parker 15 I got a while back and she actually preferred that. So I am writing this empty and then do a good clean, was about that time anyway.

After that? Another Lamy...?

Grading exams. Time of the year to use the whole hord! Today esp. using my Lamy 2Km (for comments about the exams) and my 27m, the last pen I bought; light for my hand, but what a pen!! Stubish B nib, absolutely lovely!

Just my yellow safari fine nib with Diamine Chocolate.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
