I like Verde Muschiato a lot!

It's very nice, very unique, other brands have their version.

Another attempt, now with fresh Vert Empire.

Looks great and I loved the review too.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Monteverde Yosemite Green. This is a medium-green that definitely gives off a tree-leaf vibe. I like the way it shades on most papers. Clairefontaine paper

Yosemite Green is in the center, surrounded by other greens for comparison. Fabriano EcoQua paper.

Robert Oster Tranquility. A teal that sits right between blue and green.

This is my entry in the Clairefontaine paper category. Pen is Wing Sung 3008 with a Lamy nib. Ink is as shown Pelikan 4001 Dunkelgrun. And paper as mentioned is Clairefontaine work-block A4 82602C.

The typography exercise is the second part of a Latin motto "Fiat iustitia ruat caelum" meaning "Let justice be done, though the heavens fall."

I love Kelly Green because when I don't use a pen it's in for a few days it comes out a dark, very interesting color.

Pen is Wing Sung 3008 with Lamy nib M width, ink is Diamine Kelly Green, and paper is Rhodia pad 80g/m blank.

PS: Does anybody have any suggestions for the shade of green that I've started with here? I was thinking a R&K or a J. Herbin...

R&K's closest match is Verdura, but I think it's a bit bluer than your writing sample.

Herbin's Lierre Sauvage, Akkerman #28 and R&K's Verdura. Thank you I'll check their reviews now!

Can Akkerman be purchased easily within the EU?

Yes, Akkerman is based in the Netherlands and it should be easy to order from them directly (https://www.vulpennen.nl/en/akkerman/p-1a/).

I've played around a bit with Pelikan 4001 Dunkelgrun.

Where it pools you can see a bit of red outline, that's called shadowing, right?

The pen used is a Wing Sung 3008 with a Lamy 1.5mm stub.

The paper used is Rhodia pad 80g/m blank.

The quote is part of a poem but for the life of me I can't remember where I've read it.

No, the red is sheen! When there's a different colour than the ink, then it's sheen, like here: green ink, but red sheen (it kinda sparkles).

Shading is when an ink colour goes lighter and darker, also seen with this ink - light green to dark green.

Sheen not to be confused with the actual glitter particles added to some inks, like J Herbin's 1670 line for example..

Sorry I didn't mean shading, I'm acquainted with it by now. I meant when the sheen pools only in the outline of the stroke. That's called 'haloing' or 'shadowing'(?)

Isn't this phenomenon called with a specific, separate term by ink reviewers?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
