AWESOME

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Here's an update to my PR Sherwood Green card, with Parker Penman Emerald right alongside it for comparison. For all the recognition that Penman Sapphire gets, I haven't seen much attention paid to Penman Emerald, which is another legendary color in its own right.

PR Sherwood is the left swatch, PPE is the right swatch.

Diamine Sherwood Green is another great dark green that looks worthy to inherit the title of "Best Dark Green Ink" from Penman Emerald. On paper, it's actually a closer match to Penman Emerald than Private Reserve's Sherwood Green.

PE is my favorite of the Penman inks. I hoard my bottle and stare at it. It was a gift from the former Inky Thoughts Mod.

I'd be happy to do a Penman Emerald CRV if there is interest! I'd like to find off-the-shelf inks that compare well to Emerald.

Waterman Harmonious Green? The underlying green is somewhat different but it also has dark red sheen.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Errant Smudge, I'm willing to do one. Give me a few weeks to recoup after this ink a day marathon.

Do try the green cartridge from Pilot Mixable cartridges! It's a dead ringer!

Thanks for the heads-up! Soon I'll try it in my 78G Italic.

Practice, patience, perseverance

Noodler's Green Marine. Another dark green that could serve as a stand-in for Penman Emerald. With the ink sample I received, this is a very close match to Diamine Sherwood.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
