NOTE: This ink is no more expensive than the "Montblanc - Kipling" ink referenced in the review.
Information given by another member regarding "price -vs- ounces" for both inks.

Adding Sailor Ink Studio 967 to the mix . . . . just goes to confirm how lovely those Kobe Green Inks are!

Ink Studio 967 Adjacent.jpg

- no disrespect to the Ink Studio though. Robert Oster's Moss was a little too blue for me, but if I ever want a green that doesn't have "murk" in it (I had forgotten such things existed!), this would do very nicely!
What amazes me though is I thought the 967 would be a dupe for Kobe #28, which is my dark, yellow based green, but they are completely different animals!

After a Violet Winter the Greens are popping up again. Here's what I'm selecting from, February '22:

February 22.jpgEdit to add names, from the top:
Diamine Classic Green
Kobe #49 Kitano Olive
Kobe #45 Hachibuse Silhouette
Kobe #28 Suzuran (I think this is a real winner!)
PenBBS 502 The Rains
Diamine Safari
Robert Oster Crocodile Green
Ink Studio #967
with AltGoldGrun added on the vertical.

@pgcauk Great work!

BTW, if you type in the names of the inks to the post, the images will show up on searches.

Did that, ta!

I decided to try all three Kobe's at one time, which I hadn't done before. I think I'm getting the nibs right now:

#28 in an F

#49 in a B

#45 in a Zoom

all interlaced with GvonFC Olive, dilute!

My scanner seems to be noticeably deficient in picking up green, with or without the reference greyscale and/or colour patches being scanned alongside a sheet of writing; my eyes certainly see more green on the physical artefact. As a result, Noodler's El Lawrence and KWZ Ink Green Gold both appear in the scanned image as without any greenness, even though there should be some hints of very muted green in both.

I see the same, in pretty much every image-capture device I've got.  For some reason, they don't like green, and the more subtle (e.g. murky, teal, blue-green) the color, the less they see it. :(  Very annoying.

Brass Sport Iron Gall Green Gall.jpg

I have a Kaweco Sport in Brass that I love so much I upgraded it to a gold nib (Kaweco gold nibs are expensive!), with a special carry case on a key chain to keep it secure as an everyday carry. It reminds me of those Brass Zippo-type lighters from the Great War! I have been rotating different inks through it (thankfully expedited by the small converter capacity!), none looking bad but I think I have settled now on Noodlers' El Lawrence and KWZ IG Green Gold as the two that suit it best in both color (Flander's Fields!) and function (Bulletproof!).
Possibly A Smug Dill can be a bit of a persnickety one at times (?) but for sure he is a meticulous sampler with exemplary tastes!
. . . Oh, and Pennonia are back on the radar again - I had hoped I could tiptoe around them!

The photo is closer to what I see; there is definitely green in KWZ Ink Green Gold and Noodler's El Lawrence.

Sometimes (in addition to the Levels tool) I fiddle with GIMP's Hue-Saturation tool to change the color.  If it seems to work, I do the minimum adjustment needed to get closer to what I think it should be.  But many times, it doesn't work at all - either because the camera didn't pick up any color, so there's nothing to work with, or because hue and saturation just aren't the thing that needs adjusting (I assume).  I'm sure a pro could do better, but I'm not willing to become a pro. :D

Not sure how many people might read my post-review text, but any more, I try to describe the color variations there, for those who are seriously interested in the color.  I'll be visiting my brother this year, and may fiddle with how to make use of those color palettes - he's got one we can fiddle with and if it looks like it'll do some good, I'll get my own for use under my own lighting and with my own camera.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
